Colorado Trip Part 1

At the end of June we were able to take a trip to Colorado to visit Armadillo's sister, Andy, along with his parents and Mamy.  We had the best time!  Andy is a fantastic hostess and we felt so comfortable and welcome in her home.  Our first full day there was a Sunday and all the girls happened to have matching sailor dresses.  We went a little crazy taking pictures.  You just can't beat cute kids and the fabulous Colorado scenery!

After church, we headed up to Nederland, in the canyon above Boulder, for a picnic by the lake.  It was absolutely beautiful!

Then we finished up our day with a ride on the Carousel.  Baby Cake and I had a blast riding the cow together.  Every time we moved the cowbell rang.  Lol!

A Chilly Zoo Trip!

We decided to visit the zoo on a cold, rainy day.  We thought it wouldn't be too bad, but it was extremely cold.  The animals were fun to watch though.  They were so active.  At the end of our -short- trip, we ordered some hot chocolate.  Who would've thought that we would need hot chocolate in June?

Baby Cake is One Year Old!

Our little Baby Cake celebrated her first birthday in June.  We sure love this little girl.  She is a sweetheart and her older brother and sisters can make her laugh so easily.  She's trying to figure out how to walk right now.  She pulls up on furniture and loves to be a "big girl."  We sure love this little girl.
Everyone has changed so much in just one year!!

Such a good sense of humor!!

Baby Cake enjoyed her cake!  When we were singing Happy Birthday to her, she reached out and snuffed out the flame on the candle.  Everyone screamed, which scared her to death and she started crying.  She did not get hurt, just startled.  Wish I had video taped the song!

Happy birthday little lady!!

The End of the 2013-2014 School Year!

Mimi graduated from kindergarten!  She had the cutest, most energetic teacher this year. She loved going to school and loved learning!  The kindergarteners sang songs to represent each month of their first year in school. They included "I like school and school likes me," "I like being me," and, "we're going to the zoo."  Then each kid got a graduation cap and a diploma.
Scooter had two phenomenal second grade teachers!  They really encouraged him to always do his very best. He got the award for "most voracious reader!"  And it's true!  This year he read the entire Series of Unfortunate Events, The Fablehaven Series, and The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and much more!  The worst punishment for him is when we restrict his reading time. He gets it from me!

Now for a fun summer...

We're Going to the Zoo!

Armadillo, Mimi, Jojo, Baby Cake and I were all able to go to the zoo for Mimi's Kindergarten field trip (poor Scooter had to stay at school). We had such a fun day!  We didn't go at all last year so it was nice to see all the new attractions, along with our favorite regular attractions.

It was Baby Cake's first trip to the zoo. She was feeling a bit under the weather (we later found out she had a UTI) but she still got excited seeing the different animals.

We love this drinking fountain!  I'm so glad they moved it by the new safari exhibit.

This is my favorite picture of the day!  The lions are amazing. Jojo LOVED them!

We had to take a picture of this cute monkey!  Mimi's class learned a song about the zoo. One line goes, "see the monkeys scritch, scritch, scratchin'" and this monkey was doing it!

My favorite quote of the day was after the girls witnessed the gorilla eating something we humans would NEVER eat. Mimi said, "Oh no! He's eating his business!"  When we (jokingly) asked her what that meant, she just glared at us like, "Duh!"  That girl is hilarious!

11 Months

Baby Cake is 11 months old!  She loves to crawl around and is always very busy. She loves crackers, pretzels, cheese, and all kinds of baby food. She liked to click her tongue and does great big belly laughs when she gets tickled. Her favorite thing to say right now is "da, da, da."

She has a stubborn streak in her though. Gets that from Armadillo!  You can see that she's playing with her hat rather than wear it!  Stubborn!

I plopped Baby Cake down on the grass to take these pictures and first she REALLY didn't like it, but then she liked it well enough to eat it!  Bleh!

We sure love this sweet girl!

Young Astronauts

Scooter has been a part of the Young Astronauts this year at school. All year long they worked on building rockets and were able to go on a few field trips, Clark Planetarium and Astro Camp.

Today was the big day. They launched their rockets. A few weeks ago I asked Scooter if it was hard to build a rocket. He said,"No, mom, it's not rocket science. Well...actually, it is!"
