SCHOOL OF TERROR!!!

It's out in the open.

I am from the infamous SCHOOL OF TERROR!

For those who are still in the dark over the sensational story which made headlines and was splashed across 3 pages of the mainstream daily, THE STAR, i have extracted the reports from their website the following for your interest:-

School of terror
By ANDREW SAGAYAM and WONG PEK MEI newsdesk@thestar.com.my

STUDENTS at a co-ed secondary school in Rawang, Selangor, dread going to school every day knowing what awaits them when they step into the compound. Groups of boys randomly pounce on their schoolmates almost every day, demanding protection money ranging from RM8 to RM36.
Those who refuse to pay are assaulted or mocked until they pay up.

Violent attacks, rapes and drunken binges by schoolboys spewing four-letter words are all common in this school.

And it’s not just fellow students who are afraid. Residents outside the school are equally afraid of these schoolboy gang members.

The Starprobe team went undercover to talk to students, former students, parents, teachers and residents, revealing a sorry story of triad activities, drug distribution, alcoholism, vandalism and sexual crimes.

School gangs make it hell for all
By ANDREW SAGAYAM and WONG PEK MEI newsdesk@thestar.com.my

RAWANG: They are not just ordinary backyard school bullies – at just 14 and 16, they are already hardcore gangsters and now, sadistic rapists.

They strike terror among their schoolmates and even the teachers, and residents in the two neighbourhoods near the school live in fear of them.

Afraid of what these teenagers could do to them, teachers, parents and residents have instead opted to keep quiet.
Cases of molest are said to be rampant, but almost all of these cases went unreported as the victims feared more severe “repercussions”.
However, the matter came to light after a police report was lodged over the rape of a Form 2 girl by her schoolmates at their school premises.
The news shocked the nation, and Malaysians want to know how the student could have been attacked in her school where she is supposed to be safe.
Several students, overcome by the plight of the rape victim, broke the news to the caretaker of an orphanage.
The 14-year-old girl had been repeatedly raped by several of her classmates in various locations of the school over a three-week period.
A medical examination carried out revealed that a 4cm-long pencil had been lodged in her private parts.

Journey of fear: One of the secluded shortcuts used to and from the school. The shortcut passes through the cemetery, which is hidden by the bushes, located beside the school.

The Starprobe team spent almost four weeks to unearth the truth – such was the extent of fear that gripped the community. More than 20 people were interviewed, including students, residents, parents and teachers.
The team investigating the goings-on in the school was told that the girl had also been tortured by the same group of boys. They were detained by police but have since been released on police bail.
A friend of the victim claimed that a bottle of minyak cap kapak (medicated oil) was emptied into the victim’s private parts.
“The boys also stuffed ice cubes in,” she claimed.
That the girls were fearful to even talk to the Starprobe team was evident – they spoke only after shutting the doors and windows, pulling the curtains and turning up the TV volume.
They were uneasy with the questions asked, but eventually revealed that there were three “triads” – known as 08, 21 and 36 – operating within and outside the school grounds.
Randy (not his real name), a former triad member, said extorting from schoolmates was an everyday occurrence.
What is interesting was how the amount extorted came about.
“If the triad number is 08, the amount extorted is RM8,” he said, adding that those who refused to pay would be beaten up.
He also claimed that some gang members distributed drugs like ganja, ketamine and Eramin 5 in school.
“The drugs are sourced from gangsters on the outside,” he said.
A Form Four student said she saw a Form Three girl being molested by eight boys in two incidents in the girls’ toilet and in an empty classroom in March.
“I am shocked that they can do this without any fear or remorse,” she added.
A resident, Sarimah (not her real name), said her family were constantly troubled by the bullies, who used a short-cut near her home to go to school.
“My daughters are afraid even to go out and play whenever they are around,” said the mother of three.
She said the boys had even vandalised her husband’s car and thrown stones into her house.
“They also use vulgar words liberally,” she added.
When Sarimah reported the matter to the school, she said a teacher told her to move elsewhere if she could not take the torment.
A caretaker of a Muslim cemetery beside the school said the bullies would get intoxicated on alcohol and drugs, and dance at the cemetery to taunt him.
“During one of their drinking sessions, they pelted me with stones when I questioned them.

They told me to mind my own business and threatened to assault me,” he said, adding that he gave photographs of the students to the school management but no action had been taken.
Checks showed that graffiti depicted the gangs’ triad numbers on the walls of the school.
The bullies also damaged vehicles parked in the school grounds, smashing windscreens and vandalising cars belonging to teachers.
“Happy hour” sessions are on every Friday afternoon next to the cemetery.

Easy access for all into school

RAWANG: Anyone can enter the school without having to go through the main entrance, which makes it ideal for teenage criminals to operate.
The school compound is huge, covering an area of six acres and there are many secluded shortcuts and paths leading to the school.
The Starprobe team found that it is easy to get in and out of the school without being noticed
by anyone, especially the school teachers.
The cemetery behind the school.
The most popular route to school is via a Muslim cemetery located beside the school. The cemetery is near two housing estates – Taman Seri Rawang and Taman Garing Jaya.

The perimeter wall surrounding the school is just over a metre high – it is easy to climb.
According to an ex-gangster, who has left the school and turned over a new leaf since, outsiders sold drugs to some students who in turn distributed it to their schoolmates at these deserted spots. The drugs are said to be sold at higher than the market price.
It was at one of these secluded spots behind the school field that a 14-year-old girl was raped last month.
The Starprobe team was told that the school was planning to clean up the place and paint the “Kawasan Larangan” (prohibited area) sign, after the rape incident.
In the meantime, residents complained that some of the students are still using the spot to hang out and consume alcohol.
A gazebo located at the cemetery where school students drink during their ‘happy hours’ on Fridays. The school can be seen in the background.

A resident claimed that students used unoccupied houses in the area as their dens.
“You can find mattresses, pillows and mats in the houses. We have also seen the boys taking girls into these abandoned houses,” he said.
He alleged that one of the houses was destroyed after it caught fire last month.
“We told the police that we saw two students entering the house and they were smoking.
Soon after they left, the fire broke out,” he said.
Another resident, who conducts crime prevention patrols with other residents on their own initiative, believed that these students could be also involved in burglary.

No one wants to file complaint, says Rawang rep

RAWANG: Rawang assemblyman Gan Pei Nei is aware of the disciplinary problems at the school ranging from gangsterism and gang fights to molest.
“Unfortunately, no one has come forward to report or put them on record. We would like to advise the public to come forth and file a complaint so we can take further action,” said Gan, adding that many were probably not aware of their rights or who they should complain to.
“The families of the victims could also be afraid of the social stigma that may follow if they lodge complaints,” she said, adding that she would investigate any complaint and take necessary action.
»The families of the victims could also be afraid of the social stigma that may follow if they lodge complaints.
“Police did tell me that gangsterism is common in the school area,” said Gan, adding that the police, several parent-teacher association members and parents were her only sources of information on the school.
She said she had also heard that the school had covered up instances of molest and gangsterism among its students in order to protect its reputation as one of the better schools in town.
Due to administrative procedures, Gan said she was not allowed to deal directly with the school despite being the assemblyman for the area.
She added that a new school, SMK Taman Hijau, would be built at Taman Tun Teja to house some of the students from the problem school.
Gan also noted that the root of the problem could be congestion in the school.
“There are over 3,000 students in the school and the teachers have admitted to me that they cannot take care of such a large number,” she said. Gan said the Gombak district education office had already issued letters requesting parents staying nearby to transfer their children to the new school.
She added that she was in discussions with several NGOs and police on a “civil society intervention” programme for students with disciplinary issues, starting with those in Forms 1 and 2.
Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said police had not received any report of gangsterism, extortion or molest.
He said the liaison officer overseeing the school did not report any of the allegations as claimed.
“The officer has been meeting with the school authorities and no one raised any issue with him on any criminal matter except for truancy.
“Since the rape of the 14-year-old student, we have been monitoring the school and gathering intelligence on the activities of several suspected troublemakers, but nothing serious has been reported,” he said.
DCP Khalid also appealed to the school authorities and parents to lodge reports or contact him or his liaison officer if they were worried about repercussions.
It's hard to imagine how much disciplinary problems has worsen in my alma mater in just a few years. In fact, from the report it seems they have escalated from disciplinary misconducts to crimes against the LAW. Therefore, if time allows I would really like to head back and have a tour myself of the School of Terror, as I wonder whether stories are exaggerated, the truth or just tip of the iceberg.
Sadistic sexual acts are new, but stories of gang fights, prescence of triad members among students, use of vulgar words, acts of grafitti, smoking, and general "lepaking" is not unheard of even during my times, or even in other schools.
The difference of course, is the extent of such happenings in school.
School as I know it -- just keep your nose out of issues within these so call gang members and be polite to everyone. Never assume that just because the person is in lower ranked classes, he/she is automatically a member of triad, and also never underestimate a person just because he is in the upper class. Skip class, keep your nails long, 'conteng' your desk, even talk back to your teachers (if you are right!), consume alchohol (not within school boundaries though)! I did these. I turn out fine. I know friends who have friends within the triad. I know people who smoked and even got high during their school days. They have all turned fine, with reputable University degrees and are now working professionals.
So what have happened to my school who I had always complained about, but no matter what would still call it a place where my roots are and pround of it? Is the little lane beside the school which I had used frequently to go yumcha those days, that scary now? I have friends with family members still attending the school. I have friends who still resides in that neighbourhood. Is it really so unsafe for them to go anywhere alone withini the school area?
Or......."victims" had just meddled with trouble, mixed with the wrong company and was just unsmart in carrying themselves?
I want to know.

finally......

if i'm at home..i'd prolly have shouted out.

After a painful wait from the time i wake up till I finished my lunch, i was finally able to check my results.

My heartbeat rate doubled as i scroll down to read my results.

And it was there.

Two PASSES.

56 for advanced tax (P7)

67 for advanced audit and assurance (p6)

And a note of congratulations that i have finally completed the ACCA course, and am now officially an affiliate.

Tax was lower than expected, but audit was higher. So overall, i'm very pleased with my results. Guess i should stay put in audit afterall.

It took a while before my heart rate came back down.

Unfortunately it was not all good news. I would rather have marks deducted and passed to friends, then hearing the news.

i know i know..i owe my blog a lot.

ok. so before i start babbling on random events/topics/feelings, allow me to follow up on my previous entry.

Immediately after i submitted the earlier post, i googled up Kenny Rogers website, and filled up the feedback form available online. It went something like that:

"I would suggest that your company do not refuse to serve your paying customers plain water when they requested for one.

And if it is indeed a company policy to do so, I would suggest that you inform your staff not to give the reason, 'if everyone were to come in an order plain water, kita nak jual apa?'.

It gives the impression that your soda water/bottled mineral water is more central to your business than your chickens.

Unless of course, that really is the case"

To my surprise, I received a call from their customer service with regards to my feedback the very next morning!

Unfortunately, just like the staff they had in Midvalley, the man who called me also spoke rather poor English, and I could not comprehend what he was saying half the time.

nevertheless, I did understood that he was, or at least tried his best to be, apologetic, and I was in fact very pleased. However, towards the end of our conversation, he had to give me his word that he would inform the manager of that particular branch, and that the manager would be in touch with me soon.

So unfortunately, that unkept promise has again rouse my dissatisfaction and dissappointment in Malaysia customer service.

If you were wrong, admit it.

If you think you were right, then at least send me an e-mail to explain your stand.

Silence?

*buzzer*

Does not help.

So I stand by what I said earlier: BOYCOTT KENNY ROGERS MIDVALLEY.

Should i send in another feedback form?

Random:

Both my siblings were back for holidays few weeks earlier. Mind you, it has been more than 2 years since we've all been under the same roof. Admittedly, I was slightly apprehensive at first, but when they each rolled in their big big suitcases into the house, it was as if they had never been away. Anyway, they are both back to their respective countries now. So its sort of, back-to-routine for the three of us here. I think its the fourth cny we are spending apart. Reunion dinners seems to mean lot less this way. *shrugs*

I did a one day trip to Kuantan with my boyfriend in Dec. He had to go there for work purposes, so i tagged along to keep him company. Besides, Kuantan = seafood, ain't it so?

*BUZZER*

Wrong. The fishermen were on strike during that time. Seafood was expensive and left much to desire. I took some pictures. Maybe later.

I finished playing ROTK2. There was nothing much at the end. Just a few of you more 'famous' generals popping on screen, congratualating you and telling you how difficult the journey has been. Speaking of endings, i wished I could have kept my WoW game when my pc had to be formatted the last time. I was at the final scenario/level already. I would loved to finish the game and see how it ends. Sigh. Now i do not have the energy to go through the game again.

I went to sungai wang last week. I had only found out then that apparently for this cny, the fashion is very 'winter'. Funny. Cause CNY is normally the hottest time all year round. Or maybe the trend has been around for sometime now and just that i had not picked it up.

if u were to fall sick, pls don't fall sick in front of Kenny Rogers Midvalley

For i believe if you were having a heart attack and desparately need a glass of water to wash down the your medicine, the staff will tell you :

"I'm sorry. Unless you buy a glass of coke from us, I cannot give you that little glass of water."

See.

My mom, sister and I went to that particular outlet (MIDVALLEY) for our lunch last week. We ordered a half-chicken meal, a quarter-chicken meal and 3 glasses of water. The waiter took our order and walked away.

I was quite surprised because as far as i know, the muffins usually come before the meal and therefore waiters/waitresses would usually ask which flavour you want before finalising the order.

I kept quiet until the chicken was delivered to our table, and they were still no muffins nor glasses of water in sight. I was NOT HAPPY when I looked around and notice that not only was the restaurant not particularly busy, a waiter and a waitress were standing right behind us, CHATTING AWAY!

I can forgive the muffins. Maybe they wanted to serve them after the meal (even though everyone else seems to have their muffins already while their chickens are still unfinished).

But, hey...how hard is it to get 3 cups/glass of water?

So we caught the attention of the chatting waiter and requested for our plain water, to which he replied:

"Oh, sorry, we actually don't serve plain water. If you want we got one bottle of mineral water la."

My sister was about to say yes to the mineral water, but as i have just eaten in another KR outlet a few days ago and had no problem getting 3 cups of plain water there, i couldn't accept his reply.

He repeated himself and insist on not serving us plain water.

Frustrated, we stopped arguing and i demanded for the muffins instead, but apparently, Kenny Rogers Midvalley must have job specialisation or something, because HE COULDN'T serve us muffins. We had to put in our order with ANOTHER waitress, who only got the flavours right the SECOND time round.

Mind you. The restaurant was NOT busy. There were many vacant tables, and many idle workers.

As we were about to finish our meal, we saw the same waiter (who refuse to serve us plain water), served another customer with PLAIN WATER.

Noticing that we noticed what he had served, mr. waiter came over to ask us what was wrong.

It was my sister who argued back this time, why the other table was served with plain water.

His reply was:

"Oh, because that table got order drinks. You didn't. If you order just one coke. One coke only, i can give you 3 glass of water lah"

In horror, my sis retorted:

"Aren't we your paying customers too? Your company can afford to hire staff to stand around doing nothing, but can't give your paying customers 3 glasses of water?"

To which, he gave the AWARD-WINNING answer:

"cannotlah. If everyone comes in and order plain water, KITA NAK JUAL APA???!!"

Hello. You sell chicken lah. Kenny Rogers Roasters: World greatest CHICKENS.

CHICKENS!

But apparently, its Kenny Rogers Roasters: Worlds greatest soda water.

After we waved him off, my sis commented he must have thought that we were 'kiam siap' (stingy), but for her it was a matter of principle.

For me, however, It IS a matter of kiam siap.

I am kiam siap. Economy is NOT good okay. I consider it a splurge to order your rm15.60++ set. I will NOT order totally OVERPRICED mineral water or sugared water.

I SWEAR I rather die of famine than to visit that outlet again.

My previous visit was not particularly pleasant either because our discovery of a cockroach on the table only received a nonchalant, unapologetic and slow reply of "another table?".

PLEASE.

DO NOT LET SUCH A RESTAURANT WITH LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EARN YOUR HARD EARNED CASH.

movies of late

If you have not watch this, RUN! RUN to the nearest cinema NOW!

I seriously think this is one of the best movie this year. I suppose being a chinese, i will always love to see a kick-ass kung fu movie, and Ip Man just nails it. The fight scenes were awesome. Makes you want to learn some wing chun too. So, if like me, you love this genre, this is a movie you CAN'T miss.

And even if you are not a big fan, i don't think the movie will be a bore cause there are comedy, love and drama elements scattered throughout the film. There are many moments when my bf and I have laughed out annoyingly loud, and to me, a movie that can bring tears to my eyes can't do badly.

Apparently wong kar wai has errr.."plans" to film HIS OWN version of Ip Man, with Tony Leung cast as the lead.

*cough*

I love tony leung, but if i am him, i would stay clear off the movie. No way he will be comparable to donnie yen.

No. He is absolutely charming in Ip Man, and in my opinion, this is THE MOVIE for him. Jet Li, who??? It's Donnie Yen's time to shine!

Of course, it probably is just my own 2 cents, because i did hear a girl commented that the movie was uninteresting and just another action movie, but hey, even if i am wrong, rm10-12 and 1 hr 40 min of you life isn't much to lose

---------------

In contrast to the above movie, i would advise you to stay way way WAY CLEARRRRRR of Transporter 3, unless you are a die hard fan of car chase scenes or jason statham.

The acting was absolutely painful to watch, and the chemistry between the male and female lead was non-existent. It was so bad, i was GLAD that i need to go to the loo during their intimate scene.

Seriously.

They absolutely look more like father and daughter than lovers, and i do not have a fetish for incest.

And even though i liked jason statham in The Bank Job, he still lacks that extra something. Now i see why he is The Transporter and daniel craig is 007 with license to kill.
-------------------------------------------

Like the previous movie, the male lead is also noticeably older than the female lead, but the chemistry is slightly better in Yes Man, although only just.

The storyline is rather predictable but if you want complicating plots, go watch Heroes or Lost or something. This is a comedy and comedies are meant to be taken lightly. Don't use your brain. Just go with the flow.

I personally think this movie is very engaging. In one scene i actually wanted to sing-along with him and give my applause.

Jim Carrey has aged, no doubt, but i am a fan. I still love all his exaggerated actions and contorted faces. Will Farell just isn't the same. No one is.

Come on. Say YES to the movie.

SAY YESSSSSSS!

contemplating

who should i invade?

ma teng -- because he's weak and he hates me?

cao cao -- because he is strong and i don't like him?

or sun jian -- because he rules too many provinces and i want --oh, i SOOO want -- zhou yu from him?

and while im thinking..i finally started to pack my notes!

it's taking longer than i expected though.
