Starvation Reservoir Aug 2012

I wasn't really sure what I was getting into when I agreed to camp at this place.  My friend was coming up from Denver with his family.  Starvation was about half way for both of us.  It also happened to be 45 minutes from the girls dad so he and his family were able to join us one evening for swimming and birthday cake.

When we first arrived, I was terrified.  I swore I would be a good tent camper.  Not complain about no bathrooms.  Not whine about no electricity.  Not wear make-up.  HOWEVER, when I went to the outhouse in the "primitive"camp, all bets were off.

I opened the door and a WAVE, SHEET, STORM of flies greets me.  Oh, heck no!!!  At some point my babies were going to need to use the outhouse and there was no way I was sending them in there.  I could not guarantee they would make it back out.  I don't care how "right on the beach" our camp sight is.  NEXT!!

Off we went to scout out the next campground. I knew we were where we needed to be when the entrance had a guard shack.  Hello four star of camp grounds.  She said this site had flushing toilets, running water, electricity and SHOWERS!!!  SOLD!!!  Luckily they had one slot left.....and it had our name written all over it.

This place did turn out to be beautiful.  The kids enjoyed the sandy beach, the beautiful water and by Sunday afternoon we were alone to enjoy the waters as we wanted.

This trip sure made me wonder why we ever go camping in the first place.  The only people it is fun for are the kids.  The adults worked from the moment we woke, to the moment we crawled into bed.  I was on constant garbage patrol.  And who sleeps when camping in a tent?  Due to the way the camp was set up, I could hear the guy in tent next to us snoring.  The boats entered the waters all night long and the wind in the trees was playing games with me.  First night, two hours of sleep.

That said......I had the most amazing weekend.  Kids got along.  Adults got along.  Kids and adults got along.  Weather was divine.  We were right next to the showers.  Let me say that again....we were right next to the showers...with electricity to dry out my hair.  I never did wear make up but I sure could have if I wanted to.

With his three kids, my four kids and one friend, we had eight kids to manage.  Everyone survived.  No trips to the hospital and I think we made some pretty fantastic memories.

So here is a slew of pictures to share our trip to Starvation Reservoir.

Rest area along the way

Sunday night I did invite Abete and his wife and baby to enjoy
swimming and camp with us for the evening.
It went well.

Always celebrate baby
Belle and Olaya love being big sisters

Monday, last day of camping, the kids or we all had to enjoy one last dip in the water.
We were the only people on the beach.  It was fabulous.

Water safety people even gave the kids a ride as they towed the dock to deeper water.

Had to get everyone jumping in.
Love Miss Belle.
She rocks it!!

Always one that doesn't actually make it in the water.

Me hanging out closer to shore

able to watch the little ones on the beach

Last shot of the trip.

I did not catch a picture of it but I was also able to finally meet a dear friend that I had only been able to email, text and talk to on the phone.  She drove up from Vernal to say hello before we headed for home.  Thanks Niki for taking the time to come say hello.  Definitely going to plan a weekend trip to Salt Lake so we can really spend some time together.

The weekend was amazing.  A place to visit again.

You will notice Taron is on maybe one picture on his own.
That kid is so grown up that he was all over the place.
Honestly, he was there.  And I love him, all my littles,
with all my heart. Just never around when the camera was out.
