12-11-10

This past weekend Keagan was baptized. I am a little behind on my 'postings'. Keagan turned 8 last Sunday and was baptized this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day. The weather was absolutely "above normal" perfect! She was surrounded by ALL her grandparents, friends and cousins. I think she (and I) will remember this day for a long time.

As I watched Keagan step out of the water from being baptized I tried to remember how exactly mine went. To be honest I remember my dress, my Mom doing my hair but really nothing else. I wish I would have written it down. So in lue of lessons learned I had Keagan jot down some feelings she had on her day.

Here are some pictures from the day.

thankful

I have been meaning to post for a few days now. I (scratch that) WE have lots to be thankful for. David last night received an email from Indiana extending him a seat for this up-coming school year. We were so grateful to receive an acceptance. Really, we were tickled! Then this morning the head of Midwestern, Dr. Polk personally called David offering him a seat. Midwestern is in Phoenix. LOTS closer to home, and really close to family and LOTS of friends. We are still waiting to hear from Colorado and Washington, but our lack of hearing makes us think that we have a choice to make between these two schools.

A choice, I am still wrapping my head around that. So hard we were praying for one. Just one, that is what we were saying all along, and now we have two schools. What a blessing!

So thank you for all your prayers and thoughts on our behalf. What a great Anniversary gift for the both of us.

Now I am so exhausted from all the emotions I think I can sleep for a week!

night ya'll

what a Hoot!

It all starts with these:

and you go and buy this:

Then you have a little friend that looks like this:
(lets call him Duddly)

Then 'Duddly' tells his friends how fun our house is and how cute the kids are, and eventually we get this:

And apparently Duddly has cousins, friends and neighbors that want to join in the party...

And here I am talking to the cupcakes that I just made. Maybe I need to get out more! As I was packing them up to take them to Keagan's classroom I could swear I heard little voices saying "please don't eat me" Sorry friends. You have got to go.

Keagan loved them as well. We had a blast making (and carrying on conversations) with our new little fury friends!

A tree of 'thanks'

Every year we do a 'thankful' tree during the month of November. THIS was last years, so I think my idea has improved 100%! I love the way it actually looks like a tree. David's parents were kind enough to let me hack away at some of their trees to get the branches, then I went to Walmart to find the little baby clothespins. and I cut the GIVE thanks tag from my cricut and I cut the leaves by hand. The kids had fun thinking of things to be thankful for.

rewind

I forgot to post pictures of the kids in their Halloween costumes... oh wait. that's because I forgot to take them :) Nice. Here are the pictures I got after we got home, sorry. Just go back to last years and pull those up, the kids were the exact, EXACT same thing. Yes, we bought new costumes, but they spied their old ones in the Halloween bin and opted for those. Nice times two. (too bad we couldn't return the new ones, right!)

(the pictures pretty much explain it all :)

game over. off to bed they went while David and I checked (uh...hm...) the candy. We had to make sure it wasn't poisonous. Just doing our job. :)

off....

David is currently on his way to the Las Vegas airport, he catches a 8:00 flight headed to Colorado! We are excited about this interview and I pray it will go as well as Midwestern did (Midwestern is the school in Phoenix).

After he flies home tomorrow he will have almost a week break before he goes again to Indiana. This is a fun time that I am hoping will lead to some good news on Dec. 1st.

Besides all these interviews, flights, etc. our lives are pretty boring. The kids are already missing Pup, our dessert tortoise. He hibernated last week...in the laundry room! (silly Pup)

We had a round of the stomach flu swing through our house on Monday, I think we are all better now, thank goodness!

The weather here is putting me in a foul mood. It shouldn't be 80 degrees in November, its ridiculous. :)

Well... take care.

Keep calm and carry on

This is David's and I's motto for his upcoming interviews (wait, did I say interview(s).... YES I DID!) Back on August second we were contacted by Midwestern to schedule an interview on Nov. 2nd, of course... we said YES! Then a few weeks ago University of Washington invited us to an interview on Nov. 1st, and then Colorado (Nov 5-6th) and last Indiana(Nov. 11th-13th) So we are trying to 'stay calm and carry on' We feel so giddy inside. Watching our dream unfold into more of a reality then it's ever been. David has worked so hard for this, and frankly... I couldn't be more proud of him for staying true to his path, when the world was telling him give up.

I have been an emotional wreck lately. All the excitement, and fears and hard work of these last two years is coming down to these 4 schools. We are so grateful for the interviews, every interview before Dec. 1st helps our chances of getting into a school.

So right now (Sunday) David is on a flight to Seattle. Anticipation is the only emotion I can describe for sure, but I know there is a whole ball of them wrapped up in this body of mine. I am sure by tonight David will read this (David I had to tell them sometime :) (I still can't believe I kept this secret as long as I have :) and all I want him to know how VERY proud I am of him. Way to go David! We love you! Come home safe!

Love,

Barb

Fall Recital

Keagan had her Fall recital this past weekend. All the kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes. It was very cute to see all their costumes! Keagan played a song called "Halloween Fun!"

Fall ya'll

The kids loved picking out pumpkins this year at Kingman's pumpkin patch... well parking-lot patch :)

Splendid Speller

Keagan has made it through the first 9 weeks of school and at her first assembly she was given the Splendid Speller award! Keagan's teacher gave me a heads up (thank you!) and I was able to be there to snap some photos of my little Splendid Speller Keagan. She is getting so big!

consider yourselfes, can'd!

The Charons (David's parents) have a big pear tree, and this year it produced TONS of pears. So we took some home and canned them. It was my first canning experience, and I will say it was a good one! I feel so 'holly homemaker' with my canned pears :)

Before :) (they have no idea what's coming!)

My little helper... everytime I would peel a pear and cut it she would take it and put it in the bowl of fresh fruit solution (helps keep the pears from turning brown) some would hit the floor, but for the most part she was a big helper! (don't worry, if you come over for pears we won't tell you which ones were the ones that were on the floor :)

all done!

horsin' around

There is horse-property a few streets away from ours, and a girl on a horse saw the kids playing and came over and stopped by. She was so nice, she even offered to let the kids go for a ride...

Keagan is now requesting a horse for Christmas, and not just any horse, THIS very horse :)

I am thinking I have a beauty queen in the making... SCARY! Maddy LOVED the horse, she was not afraid of this big, beautiful animal at all. She would thou, only ride on the horse if Trinity (the girl behind her) would ride with her. She loves Trinity (our little neighbor)

"um.. Mr. Horse, can I ride you?"
