Grandma McCombs' Party!

Jason and I went up to Washington to celebrate Grandma McCombs' 80th birthday. The weather was funky, it was sunny and supposed to stay that way, then all of a sudden there was a summer storm with a little lightning, thunder, and rain. Luckily it was short lived and then we were able to keep the festivities outside. Grandma McCombs' is one of the best people. Not only is she really sweet and a good cook (like grandma's should be :); she shovels her own snow, walks long distances every day (with some big hills) and has a huge garden that she takes care of. She is one of the most active people! We had a great time celebrating her birthday (which was April 30, Jason has the same birthday!)

My niece Callie . . .

My niece Ellie . . .
And my nephew Jack . . .

Jason and I decided to take a little ride on the Rhino (kinda like an off-roading golf cart) while people were finishing up eating. It's so pretty out!

Here is Jill (Jason's mom) with Grandma and Jill's siblings.

Jack caught in action! Are you allowed to climb over the fence?
My niece Katelyn (who lives here in Huntington Beach and was up for a visit as well)
Callie & Katelyn played dress up. They are the cutest!
Jack got a little dirty playing in the sand box.

We had a great time at Grandma's party! There was pulled pork sandwiches, tons of salads, singing (I did a solo with Ryan on the guitar), and everyone passing around this awesome book with pictures and thoughts from everyone that Jill put together.

Colville, Part 1

Jason and I just back into town from visiting his family in Colville, WA. Incase you are unfamiliar with that area (which you probably are because it's such a small town!), it is a little over an hour north of Spokane, WA and less than an hour from Canada. It is not close to Seattle, and no it doesn't rain there all the time. It is the most beautiful place.
In the winter it is a snowy wonderland that makes Christmas amazing, and in the summer it's nice and warm with green trees and fields everywhere.
This house is the home Jason grew up in, which his grandfather built. There is family (grandma and aunts) to both sides (it's a 50 acre lot) and feels like you own the world. We had the best time!

A little Robin's nest... the babies would chirp all morning

Riding the quads was so fun, here's Jason, dusty and muddy just home from a ride with his brothers.

the wedding

I meant to post this a while back, life has been so hectic! My sister, Elizabeth, was married last month at the Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach. The bishop performed the ceremony after which we ate and partied the night away! The dinner was freakin fantastic and everything else as well. Jason and I had a lot of fun at our table. We sat with the other bridesmad, Maggie, and her date as well as the best man, Joe, and his date.

The dress . . .

and shoes. . .

Liz's vows

It was almost time to walk down the aisle (first time I've ever done that!)

Love my sister. She was especially beautiful that day.

Congrats to John and Liz. We had an awesome time there and have had a great time hanging out since then. Welcome to the fam, John!

Elizabeth's Wedding Shower

A week ago Saturday I, along with my sister's good friend Maggie, threw my sister a shower. It was at Sage Restaurant and turned out to be a beautiful day!

My mom is the greatest. She says the greatest things and is so funny! It is always fun to go out with Mom, especially in a new group of people.

The ring...

I did the flowers and was relieved when I was able to find something within my budget that looked good.

Happy Shower Liz! Now onto the wedding...

Touchdown! Sort of

A month or so ago my sister, Elizabeth, invited my brother, Jason and I to play some flag football with her unit at work. It was the cardiac critical care nurses vs. the ER doctors. So much fun! I got to play with the ER dr's cause there had to be one girl per team on the field at all times so I ended up playing against everyone I came with. It actually made for some good jokes and taunting from the other players.

Everyone had a great time running around on such a gorgeous day. That is, until Jake (a nurse) completely tore his achilles tendon. Ouch! The ER dr's were on the scene all assessing the situation. It was pretty cool to see them doing their tests on the muscle and already giving him the referral to the right ortho surgeon. He ended up with 6 weeks off work, non weight bearing the entire time. Bet his wife will think twice before letting him play flag football again!

Winter

This winter was just unbelievable. No matter how great of an artist there is, none compares to our Maker. I am grateful our Heavenly Father blessed me and those who live in a close proximity with such glorious skies all winter long. I couldn't get enough.
