Shelby's Blessing, and other stuff

Shelby was blessed this past Sunday, February 6th. First, let me say the day was absolutely beautiful, 70 degrees in February. I'll take it!

Shelby's dress was absolutely beautiful. (Thank you so much mom, she looked angelic in it!). On Saturday night I decided she needed a bright red flower to wear, and impressed myself with the beauty I came up with- not hard to make at all, plus it was SUPER inexpensive

We were so lucky to have so many people come and join us for Shelby's special day. My mom flew in from OR, Brad's brothers and sisters joined us from Antelope, the Eckles came from Folsom, and the Huffakers from Sparks. We also had several people from our ward join in the blessing circle (Jeff Weight, Tom Rossberg, Rich Persson- I'm writing these down now for posterity's sake!)

Brad gave a beautiful blessing with great advice and counsel. Shelby performed perfectly up there, not a peep from her, and then she looked as beautiful as ever when Brad held her up for all to see. In fact, she got a few "ahhhs" from members of the congregation. So, in a nut shell her blessing was picture perfect

In other news, Brad is still rocking it with the CHP. He loves his job and his partner (aka his Work wife!). The kids are doing great. Just chugging along at school. Rylie is reading like a champ, Andrew's imagination is ever so wild, and Brinley has found a new love of Selena Gomez (I cant wait for her birthday- we have an awesome surprise for her!) Luke is still as funny as ever- seriously the boy puts me in stitches every day. Not much is new with me. Five kids keeps me pretty busy with just day to day household stuff. When I get a chance I've been working on a few sewing adventures my mom and I have conjured up. I also was recently called as the Enrichment Counselor in the Relief Society Presidency- its been really fun coming up with a bunch of different activities.

So there you have it!

Shelby Rees Jeffers

(Shelby- about 11 days old)

(First Bath- 11 days old)
Miss Shelby Rees Jeffers- 12/8/10 9:45pm 9lbs 20z

Of course I was induced! (only Andrew has come on his own). Shelby's birth was quite possibly the easiest one, only 9.5 hours of labor and 10 minutes of pushing, plus a partially working ephidural!!! I'll take it. And, we had the best nurse, and a private room afterwards!!!

Shelby is a pretty mellow baby so far. She loves to be held, and secretly, I love to hold her too! She looks a lot like Brinley did at this age. The kids are all in love with her and love to show her off to anyone that comes over or to anyone when we are out and about.

Church yesterday rocked. Both Brad and I looked down the row and realized we no longer had a "small" family- all those little heads are ours- its just a super cool feeling!v

apology

Dear mom...

I owe you a HUGE apology. I was a terrible teenager and I'm sorry. I know I've called you Shonna since I was like 12 and I know I've wrecked a few of your cars. But mostly, I'm sorry I got so embarrassed when you pulled out coupons and would leave you in the middle of Food 4 Less by yourself while I went and sat in the car! Or threw a massive fit and begged you to put them away because I wouldnt be caught dead near those things! I'm sure I cost you thousands. Please know that I love you dearly and will some how make it up to you!

Love

Natalie (the girl addicted to coupon shopping who calls you all the time with deals I've found!)

So, I've totally gotten addicted to couponing lately. I've saved so much money. I HATE paying full price for things now.

I like the following sites:

Quick little update

Yes I know, its been forever since I've blogged. I highly doubt anyone reads my blog anymore, so I am more or less talking to myself (which trust me, with four kids, I feel like I do that too much anyways!)

So, here's a rundown of our lives

July
  • In one weekend, Brad graduated from the Academy, we moved two households- my mom to Oregon and us to the Bay Area.
  • We found out we are having a GIRL- the girls were obviously ecstatic, the boys have since warmed up to that idea
  • Brad had 10 glorious days off before he started working- We did absolutely nothing, and it totally rocked. It was just what this family needed after the six months of CRAZINESS we just went through
  • Andrew turned 7, Luke 3, Brad 31, and me 30 (I'm so old!)
August
  • Went on vacation with the kids (minus Brad)- started off visiting our good friends in Nevada, then drove up to OR to hang out with my mom and my sister (plus family!). It was an awesome little break. We didnt really do much there but it didnt matter, we were all having fun. All of us got the stomach flu and I drove home with Luke in the front seat with a barf bucket in his lap, good times, good times.
  • Kids started School- I think this was a happier day for me than them. Its been a really long summer, and since we just moved here we havent had a lot of friends to play with. needless to say, everyone had grown tired of playing with each other. School was a refreshing breath for all! Brinley and Andrew have adjusted just fine. Rylie on the other hand is still struggling, she's a homebody by nature.
  • Rylie turned 5
  • I ventured into the couponing world and am now utterly addicted to it!

So there you have it, not the most exciting summer (well, aside from BRAD GRADUATING- which TOTALLY ROCKED).

But we are all happy, healthy and enjoying life!

Coming December 2010

Baby #5

Yes, we are crazy, but also super excited.

We are split on whether its a boy or girl. The boys are all in favor of a boy, and the girls a girl.

We'll keep you posted

PS- Brads still going strong at the academy. We just finished week 21, only six more weeks to go, next week is gonna be a douzy! We have been assigned to the Oakland office. We are still trying to figure out where we are going to live.
