Treasured Lace Books
Have been making sweet fabric books lately...finding it totally fulfilling....moreso than anything I've done for a long time.
I call each one a different name. Think up themes every morning before I crawl out of bed...
I love them because they help me put a tiny bit of my clutter into one place...my little treasures that I find on my hunts...
I have always loved old lace and started collecting it years ago. Now it seems as though so many are doing the same and the prices are crazy! I use a lot of it....and I love doing so because it's not just sitting out of sight any more.
I love old faces, fabrics, hankies, old old photos, tintypes, found in boxes that someone else bought at an estate sale...
faces that tell their own stories...and now aren't forgotten.
I love quotes...about love, God, life...
I adore old buttons, trinkets,an earring, a prayer card, a scrap...memories of things in the past...
Trims, ribbons, sequins, rhinestones, pale aquas, pinks, stains, foxing, holes and tears...
Pockets...for secrets, for prayers, for sentiments, for joys, for gratitudes...
Snippets of old needlework tossed away and forgotten....tatting, embroidery,crochet...
Digital collage...my own... that I fuss over and try to paint with the computer....
It all comes together in my little books made from simple sewing, gluing, layering, embellishing....
and love.

A new whimsical brooch or necklace for Spring!
I'm just about ready for planting and warmer weather, are you ?
My little creation is made from filigree, beads, crystals, old brass buttons, and a polymer clay face.
She is a bit of an "oddity" but she is unique and totally herself...
SPRING IS COMING!!!

It has been such a long time since I last posted here. I suppose Facebook is to blame but I miss blogging and seeing my artistic friends.
I will try to be better and post more. I have gotten away from making art for self expression lately. Instead I've been busy making a lot of Cavalier related items for Ebay and my etsy shop.
I also started making some things with old French holy/prayer card images. I love the images of Mary and the Christ child. I find them very soothing and comforting, so I was inspired to use them in my crafts.
And then there are my two puppies that keep me busy constantly! One is from my own breeding...between my Angel and a lovely boy pictured below, "Expresso," I call her, "Halo".
The other is a black/tan Cavalier I imported from France from a friend of mine. Her name is "Paris."
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and hope to see you more this year!

Looking forward to seeing what these two beauties can produce! My Angel is such a sweet, loving girl and
just what a Cavalier should be. "Expresso" is a darling boy and has won many titles in the show world.
I'm hoping for a new little girl to keep myself as this will probably be Angel's last litter.
Exciting!
