Tia Mowry-Hardrict has booked her next TV gig, and let’s just say this one doesn’t belong on Nick at Nite.
The Instant Mom alumna has joined ABC’s Mistresses in a recurring role, our sister site Deadline reports.
Mowry will appear on the summer sudser’s upcoming fourth season as Barbara Rutledge, a witty and important literary agent who signs Karen.

* Character actor Stephen Tobolowsky (The Goldbergs, Californication) has been cast in Netflix’s upcoming One Day at a Time reboot, centering on a Cuban-American family. According to Deadline, he will play Dr. Berkowitz, the boss of single mom Penelope (Justina Machado). A widowed physician and potential love interest for Penelope’s mom (played by Rita Moreno), Dr. Berkowitz relies on Penelope to keep his office (and sometimes his personal life) in order.
* AMC on Wednesday greenlit The Terror, an anthology drama series adapted from Dan Simmons’ 2007 novel of the same name. Set in 1847, the 10-episode first season centers on a Royal Naval expedition crew who, while searching for the Northwest Passage, is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and everyone on them.
* Comedian Michael Ian Black will debut his latest stand-up special, Noted Expert, on Friday, May 13, at 10/9c on Epix, according to EW.com. The special is part of Epix’s Free Preview Weekend, running from May 12 to May 15.
