The Difference Between Micro Locks and SisterlocksTM

Micro Locks are essentially formed by comb coils, two strand twist, braids, or interlocking. it can be done by any loctician. The most common method used is the two strand twist technique, however this method tends to unravel and slip out causes high retie maintenance fees. WE prefer you start with interlocking as you will not experience as much slippage or shrinkage. You normally come out with 250-350 locks, but can have more if you requests the micro size and your a good candidate for them which means your hair characteristics like texture, density and curl pattern are suited for them. These locks are normally maintained about every 4-8 weeks, depending on how small they are, and how many you have. Here the cost for a monthly to bi monthly retie could be anywhere between $150-$275. We base your rate on how many locks you have.

Sisterlocks TM is a locking system, that has a trademarked name, and can be done by specialist trained in the technique. It is done by interlocking from the ends of the roots up to the roots only, some unraveling and slippage can occur with this technique as well but it tends to hold tighter then a twist does

SisterlocksTM also has a standardized sizing which also lends to styling. Each head should have a variation of sizes to accommodate hair density, head size, and other factors. If done by the book an established head will have an average of 300-400 sisterlocks, unless you request the micro size then you could have anywhere between 400-600. The Maintenace for these locks is about every 4-6 weeks. How to care for sisterlocks/Microlocks at home

Shampoo Day

•You will be nervous so please take your time and enjoy your self care section

•To prep the locks for shampooing. Make 15-20 rubber banded braided/two strand twisted sections. Wet the locks and the hair completely with water then apply the shampoo 3 times once to focus on the scalp, twice to shampoo the locks, third to shampoo both the scalp and the Locs, then rinse well. Leave the sections in until they air dry, next separate the locks 3-4 at a time and pull apart at the scalp with finger tips. Then mist our Pravana leave in hydrating mist and our CSB sealing oil to your scalp and locks Repeat this same routine every 1-2 weeks

Daily care

•Take a daily hair multivitamins for nutrients and hair health.

•Every morning mist your scalp and Locs with our Pravana leave in and then follow up with our CSB sealing oil on the scalp and Locs

Monthly care

Have your retie done every 4-6 weeks depending on your growth cycle and loc count
