American Nightmare (2024)
Boring...
I thought this was going to be a compelling documentary. In reality, it was boring. I've seen better crime documentaries on Dateline, 20/20 and most anything on the ID channel.
I'm glad that this woman was recovered alive, and what she went through must have been terrifying. I think most law enforcement would have handled the case in a similar way. To make them out to be hapless and apathetic is just wrong! Netflix seems to like stories where they can find fault with law enforcement.
This story has been told in various prior documentaries. The movie Gone Girl is a better option if you like this kind of stuff. This documentary was a waste of time.
Extended Family (2023)
So bad!!!
Did anyone at the network actually watch this garbage before deciding to pay to air episodes? How about the sponsors? I'm guessing the answer is no, because this is embarrassing, talentless and a waste of time.
Do we really need Jon Cryer to reprise his whiny, disgusting, sniveling little character from Two and a Half Men, walking around shirtless, looking like raw chicken, passing gas and looking for something to hump? It might be worth watching if there was an alpha male, Charlie Sheen character to smack him around...or a Berta character to make fun of him.
Please put this show out of its misery!
Jim Gaffigan: Dark Pale (2023)
What happened to Gaffigan?
It's painful to write this review.
I always enjoyed Jim Gaffigan's standup, but this one was flat out painful to watch.
Jim looks unhealthy...I hope he's alright, physically.
The jokes are stale and his falsetto schtick was way overused.
The COVID jokes, the funeral jokes...not funny.
I guess this has to happen to standup comics sometimes.
The same thing happened to Seinfeld.
The jokes can't all be gold, but maybe it's time for Jim to do something other than standup.
There are far better comics doing specials on the various streaming services, or rewatch some old Gaffigan standup, instead.
This one is not worth the time.
The Last Movie Stars (2022)
Newman and Woodward deserved better than this...
There was so much video and audio of these 2 actors. WHY did they have to insert Hawke, Clooney, Linney, etc?
This documentary was fragmented and a bit chaotic. What a shame!
The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)
Meh...
Jessica Chastain delivers a decent performance
as Tammy Faye, but the real acting kudos belong to Andrew Garfield as Jim Bakker and Vincent D'Onofrio as Jerry Falwell. I always felt Tammy Faye was a naive and misunderstood woman. When she was battling cancer, she said "I hope they have mascara in Heaven or God won't recognize me."
And Just Like That... (2021)
Sixty in the City
It looks like Big was the lucky one and Samantha even luckier than him. Those women didn't learn the basic lessons of life that all women learn by the time they can see 60 on the horizon. This was another reboot sequel that should have never been made.
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Missed opportunity
This isn't The Sopranos. Even though the central character was Christopher Moltisanti's father, who died before The Sopranos storyline begins, it could have been a very good story. It wasn't. The story fell flat, in my opinion. Michael Gandolfini delivered a decent performance, and all throughout the film, I found myself really missing James Gandolfini. Corey Stoll delivered an excellent portrayal of Junior Soprano, but his role was too small. Ray Liotta also delivered a solid performance. I would have liked to have seen more of the Sopranos actors make appearances. As a huge Sopranos fan, it would have been a nice treat. After all, this film was supposed to be for us diehard fans.
My Big Fat Fabulous Life (2015)
TLC, what were you thinking??
Obviously, there are people out there watching this show...much like some people can't turn away from a bad car wreck on the highway. This woman really is just horribly unlikeable. Trying to normalize morbid obesity is just the beginning here. This woman is so fat that she is afraid that she won't be able to conceive a child, instead of committing to eating healthy, she's freezing her eggs and bullying her only 2 female friends into carrying a baby for her at some point in the future. She's "dating" a French teacher she has never met...this woman needs the help of a therapist. But why should she change if she's being paid to be a bullying, insecure, delusional narcissist?
The Morning Show (2019)
Good writing
Aniston's character is probably the real Jennifer Aniston. I think that's what makes it fun to watch. Steve Carrell always deliver a great performance.
Call Me Kat (2021)
Good casting
I really like this show. Decent writing, solid cast and a lot of heart. I hope it gets another season.
The Celebrity Dating Game (2021)
Embarrassingly bad!
Michael Bolton, what were you thinking??? This has to be the worst hour of prime time tv...EVER! That's saying a lot.
A Party Gone Wrong (2021)
Worst acting ever!
You really can't expect too much from a Lifetime movie. Most of the time, these stories are watchable and mildly entertaining. This film was absolutely horrible!
Thunder Force (2021)
So bad!!
I realize that Melissa McCarthy is funny and talented, but her husband Ben Falcone needs to quit riding her coattails. Every collaboration between those 2 results in utter garbage. Don't waste the time on this.
Generation Wealth (2018)
Misses the mark
It started out honestly enough, but then took a turn to the evils of capitalism as told by a somewhat narcissistic, pseudo-intellectual.
Frogs (1972)
The perfect 70's drive-in horror flick!
Watching this film now takes me back to summers when I was a kid. We would pack into my mom's car with snacks and our pillows and watch films like Frogs. I remember seeing this film in particular. As a kid in grade school, I loved it!
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (2010)
Unreal Housewives
I watched Hoarders because it makes me feel good about my housekeeping habits. I watched My 600 lb life because it makes me feel good about my eating and exercise habits. I watched RHOBH because it makes me realize that I'm a decent, thoughtful and caring person. You can buy clothes, jewelry and plastic surgery on Rodeo Drive, but you can't buy class.
United We Fall (2020)
Disappointing
I really like Sasso. He's a funny guy and I was looking forward to this show. Jane Curtin is awful as his mother and the wife has no chemistry with Sasso's character. Like with most sitcoms being made lately, the writing is bad.
Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill (2020)
Huge disappointment
I love Jerry Seinfeld, but he hasn't really told a new joke since his sitcom days. This was hard to sit through. I found it repetitive and annoying. I'd really like to Seinfeld do another sitcom with a strong ensemble cast.
Hollywood (2020)
What a convoluted mess!
I don't even know where to start with this train wreck. The Hattie McDaniel character or the Rock Hudson character...The most puzzling thing about this series is how they got all those otherwise respectable actors to participate In this mess.
Lost Girls (2020)
Tragic story
The problem with this whole story is that these women were in fact, prostitutes. In a missing person or murder investigation, that is a relevant fact. Sadly, prostitutes place themselves in very dangerous situations and these crimes rarely get solved. To blame the detectives is wrong. I would have liked to see more from their vantage point. Their job in investigating these crimes is extremely difficult because the pool of suspects is very large.
Dragnificent! (2019)
Really?
Turning women into drag queens? TLC used to stand for The Learning Channel. This is pure garbage.
Downhill (2020)
So bad...
Don't waste your time on this film. Bad acting, worse script. All around embarrassing and uncomfortable to watch. I'm just glad I didn't waste money on this garbage.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Phenomenal
Wow! The script was absolutely brilliant...the best WWII film since Life is Beautiful. Roman Griffin Davis is a great little actor with many memorable performances in his future. Sam Rockwell always delivers A+ performances and this was no exception. From beginning to end, this film takes hold of the audience's emotions. The BEST film of 2019.
Downton Abbey (2010)
Beautiful Series
I just fell in love with this family. The acting was nearly flawless. Downton Abbey is the absolute best of television!
Marriage Story (2019)
Overrated
I wanted to like this film, but it fell way short. Johanssen was awkward and poorly cast. This was more along the lines of a Lifetime movie.
