How long does shipping take?  Can I place an Expedited order?

Most orders go out the door within 1-2 business days, often the same day or next morning after your order.  In the Continental U.S., Standard shipping takes 3-5 days for lighter items (packages under 13 ounces that tend to go First Class) and 4-8 days for most other packages via Parcel Post or FedEx Ground.  Expedited orders usually arrive within 2-3 days once shipped.  We're usually shipping from Seattle and timing will vary by the distance.  International orders tend to take 5-10 days to reach the destination country and delivery will vary based on customs and local delivery speeds. Expedited international orders tend to arrive a few days faster. See notes on the shopping cart page for details.

Expedited shipping, and even Express overnight shipping, are available.  Once an item is in your cart you can select Standard or Expedited shipping.  If you would like your order sent via overnight or with a specific date guarantee, please e-mail us and we'll either set your order up manually or can send you a link to a secure payment page for the price difference; in most cases we can accommodate overnight orders.

During the holiday rush all shipping often takes a bit longer, of course, and we do our best to keep updates on the cart page and recommend quicker options when needed.

We welcome rush orders and are happy to quote guaranteed overnight, 2-day, or 3-day shipping service when requested.

Where can I check my order status?

Orders usually go out the same or next business day, sometimes taking two business days to ship.  You should receive an e-mail from us when your order is first placed and another when your order goes out within 1-2 business days.  If you don't see those e-mails (from orderfeedback@....) please check your junk mail folder.  We nearly always include a tracking number (and/or customs number for exports) to help you follow your shipment's progress.  If your order happens to ship via USPS, we use Delivery Confirmation but please keep in mind that it's not minute-to-minute tracking and sometimes shows much less shipping progress than there actually is!!

I didn't get an e-mail after I placed my order.  Did you get my order?  How do I track it?

Our system immediately sends both a payment receipt and order details to your e-mail address you enter.  VERY often that filters to your junk mail or spam folder, so please find it there and mark it as not spam.  Even better, add us to your address book or white list so you'll see our message when your orders ships or any follow-up questions.  If you think you might have entered the wrong e-mail address, or perhaps an old one, please let us know and we'll update it.

Can I buy gift certificates for The Purple Store?

Yes!

You can choose either having a physical The Purple Store Gift Certificate by Mail/Post, sent to you or the recipient, or save postage and delivery time by choosing The Purple Store Gift Certificate by E-mail sent to you or the recipient.

Ordering a bunch of gift certificates mailed to the same place?  We might be able to discount the shipping for you or save you time in setting up the certificates; please ask! 
If you want to manually have us set up a group of gift certificates for you, please e-mail us with the following information:


  1. Billing name, address, and phone
  2. Shipping address to which you'd like the certificate sent, if you'd like a physical certificate mailed directly to the recipient
  3. Gift "from" name (probably your name)
  4. Gift "to" (recipient) name
  5. Amount (min. $10 U.S.)
  6. (Optional) A short note or message for the packing slip or e-mail if we're mailing or e-mailing the certificate directly to the recipient
  7. Whether you want us to mail a physical certificate ($2 by First Class Mail or $6.45 for Priority Mail), e-mail a PDF to you to print or forward, or e-mail directly to the recipient at a given e-mail address.

We'll set up the purchase and will send you a link to a secure payment page for the certificate(s).  They generally ship within 1-2 days of the order being completed.

Gift certificates can be used on our website during the Payments step, as well as at our Seattle location!

Do you have a physical store?

Can I send a check or money order?

We're happy to accept checks or money orders for some items. There are two possibilities:

A) If you're just buying a few items, we can take the order by e-mail, you send a money order in (as long as it's based on U.S. dollars), and we'll ship the order out when we receive the money order.

You can also use an e-check transfer straight from a bank account by using the regular cart checkout. We use PayPal for our cart and they have an electronic check option.
If you'd like to submit an order via e-mail paid by money order, please e-mail us with the following:
--Items you'd like, size (if relevant), and quantity (easiest to just use our shopping cart and instead of hitting the checkout button, copy the order information and paste it in your e-mail).
--Full name, shipping address, and phone #.
We'll reply and confirming order receipt and providing an address for the money order.

B) For large volume orders (typically over $250) of most products, we can usually make arrangements for check or money order payment.

Our privacy policy is top notch and we never resell customer information, so if you have a friend who is willing to make the purchase for you with their credit card, it might be a good temporary solution.

A color in the product name doesn't match the photo's purple shade on my screen.  What's up?

There are two possible reasons why the title and shade may look different on your screen. First, monitors display colors a little differently. What looks like dark violet on a laptop LCD might be brighter on a desktop monitor;  Keep an eye four our color descriptions on the product page as well.  Second, we carefully watch manufacturer dye lots but occasionally something slips through.  If you receive a product that is supposed to be purple and it turns out to be so Lilac Smoke that it's grey, so Lavender that it’s blue, or so Mauve that it's pink, please let us know. We're committed to connecting you with purple products, not close approximations.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping charges depend on weight, with a mininum per-order amount.  We try to match our shipping fees to our actual costs (and yes, inexpensive items can sometimes be heavy and cost a bit to ship, or $5.50 to ship a $7 item can seem funny).  You'll notice that shipping costs don't go up as much as you add a second and third item to the cart, so you'll save a bit when ordering things together as that saves postage costs  We've found that "free" shipping isn't really free because stores actually build in shipping charges to their prices, so you wind up paying the shipping charge many times over if you buy several items.  You can easily see the shipping cost right in the cart as you add items.

Do you ship internationally, to P.O. Boxes, or to military addresses?

We gladly ship nearly all of our items almost anywhere in the world, including Hawaii, Alaska, P.O. boxes, and APO/FPO military addresses.  See our notes on choosing an international shipping method below.  Furniture can get a bit costly to ship overseas so ask for a custom quote if you'd like any of our purple furniture items.

Please note that some countries have import tariffs or taxes and you will be responsible upon delivery for any import fees assessed by your customs service.  Please keep this in mind when sending a gift directly to the recipient!

What international shipment method should I choose?  What happens if I don't receive the package?

This is important: We promise to ship your package and do our very best to make sure your item reaches you.  When we ship internationally, only Express packages (at an optional extra charge by contacting us) will have full tracking and refundability.  Packages nearly always reach our customers in a timely way but regular International Mail shipping methods do not always offer tracking.  Expedited (Priority International Mail) shipping offers a slight bit more tracing and sometimes can be claimed if anything goes wrong so we recommend that if you're concerned.  Please understand that there is little we can do for lost Standard international shipments so choose the shipping type accordingly (and if you really don't trust your postal service we're happy to quote FedEx, though the cost is significantly higher).

Our disclaimer here is that we wish we could be responsible for shipments until received but we simply cannot.  We try to find a way to help but we cannot promise to re-ship or refund items that aren't received.  Expedited shipments give you a bit more protection and Express shipments give you even more, so please keep this in mind. Again, it's very rarely an issue but we have to give this official disclaimer.

Customs fees may apply.  We do NOT usually collect customs fees, taxes, import clearance charges, etc. Those amounts are difficult to calculate on the sender side and are often waived by the receiving country. You might receive an email or mailed invoice for whatever your country assesses to pay direclty or to the shipping company (e.g. FedEx or DHL) if they covered the cost for you.

I'm ordering larger furniture like a sofa and the product page says it ships by freight.  What are the freight options?

Some of our larger furniture pieces (sofas, some chairs) ship by freight (mostly assembled, on a truck, on a wood pallet). The product page will tell you if freight shipment is needed (some items like our chaise lounge are cleverly designed to come apart in just the right size for UPS or FedEx parcel shipment to save you shipping cost).  If the item says it ships freight, please see details on our freight shipment information page.

Is check-out secure?  Why does my (older) browser warn me if use PayPal checkout?

Yes!  You should see "https" in your browser address bar with a (usually green) lock or icon showing that we are a verified, confirmed, and secured site.

If you choose to check out via PayPal (the on-site checkout has lower fees for us so we always encourage that) security will be provided by PayPal (no account required).  They also take extraordinary steps to secure your credit card and other personal information.

Is there a phone number for The Purple Store?

Our website really is our catalog and we don't have a paper catalog at this time.  New items arrive so often it would be hard to keep up!   We'd like to instead invite you to subscribe to the Purple Club e-mail list on our Home page to receive the newest product updates, purple news, special offers, and other occasional e-mails from us!

What if my package doesn't arrive or the wrong items arrive?

Some important legal stuff:  We love our customers and, to make sure we stay in business, we have to limit our liability and our promises to what we can control.  We will do our best to ship packages quickly and on time and are proud of our track record of quick, accurate shipments. Mistakes do happen, though, and occasionally a package can be mis-packed or mis-shipped.  We do our best to correct those orders immediately.  It's also possible for a carrier (USPS, FedEx, UPS), a 3rd party seller, or dropship supplier to fail to deliver a package on time or as requested.  To reduce fraud, if a carrier is at fault or package tracking shows the shipment was delivered but is not found on the receiving end, The Purple Store will not be responsible for replacement or any costs incurred because of the package not being received (you agree that it's considered yours once we hand it to the carrier).  Be sure you're providing us with a safe delivery location! Or contact us to make specific arrangements for another location or requiring a signature (which usually costs a bit extra and requires you to be home).  When the carrier or another party is at fault, we will do our best to help customers resolve the situation or locate the package.  Additionally, our liability in any case is (and to stay open must be) limited to the cost of the item(s) ordered.  All sales are made under these terms and purchases are made under these terms.

We try to do our best to provide you helpful, timely customer service. We try to exceed your expectations. We do our best to provide fair prices and shipping rates.  We do our best to keep pricing information accurate and current, but are not responsible for typographic or pricing errors if they occur. If you're not satisfied with a purchase, we'll do what we can to help you return it or exchange it. If you love what you purchased, we want to hear about that, too!

Do you do promo codes a lot? Are there restrictions?

Promo codes are rare for us; we try to keep our everyday prices reasonable! We're more likely to occasionally send something nice to long-time members of The Purple Club (our email list for purple fans; join it!).

Offers are subject to a change or expiration at any time. Codes sent to individuals are specifically for you!  Codes must be applied by you to the order itself before completing checkout; we wish we could apply these for you retroactively for orders placed without them and appreciate your understanding!  Same goes for orders placed before or after the effective time of the offer.  Promo codes are not combinable with each other or with any site-wide offers. Those vouchers themselves, or any promotional gift certificates or cards, have no cash value.  Some of them are single-use so use them well and get lots of things you'd love to have!
