I think the reason season 8B feels like a fanfic is because we have already imagined a hundred thousand different ways Buck and Eddie could get together. We’ve already exhausted every single possibility out there. Watching them get together in canon was always going to feel like fanfiction, because whatever scenario the writers come up with, we have already imagined a thousand times over.
You know what’s just scrumptious for my brain to chew on?
The fact that buck not only canonically hates basketball and his boyfriend got him basketball tickets for their anniversary present proving how little he knows him and the fact that buck only got excited at potentially taking his boy bestie
BUTTTTT the fact that when buck and tommy broke up, buck does in fact end up taking Eddie to the basketball game ANDDDDD his boy best friend makes it such a fun and memorable experience (taking him for drinks beforehand and paying, then committing crimes to get to the basketball game) to the point that buck is talking poor ravis ear off about it presumably months later if my mental timeline is right

very insane that in the first season it’s heavily established that buck uses sex as a coping mechanism then BOTH times eddie has left, buck goes and makes-out with ppl he shouldn’t about it. and i fully believe he would’ve slept with lucy had he not had a gf. and after he sleeps with tommy he himself says it’s because he felt lonely. he admits to using him to feel better. like buck, baby, this is not how one reacts to not being able to work with their best friend 24/7…..
