This page was a request from my wife.  I want to take a minute to give my wife some kudos.  I have been writing these movie pages for over 4 years now.  When I first started doing these pages I would sit at my desk and manually calculate Cogerson Movie Score for every single movie on the page. After the wife observed me doing this for the first few pages…she decided to create an Access database that would allow me to produce these pages quicker and more accurately.

Over the years she has helped me enter the data into the database….I remember when we were entering the stats on our Michael Caine page….at one point she looked at me and said….”How many damn movies does this guy have?”….the answer over 100.

She has been the force behind making our website better.  The computer program she created for my movies database is simply awesome.  There is no way I would still be doing these pages if I was still using pencils, calculators, fingers and toes to calculate the Ultimate Movie Score.  So I want to thank my wife for being so supportive, smart and one helluva computer programmer…..you are the best!

Thanks for the feedback including additional information and interesting quotes.
Yes Halle is the only African American actress to win an Oscar for a leading role so far. 8 black actresses have won Oscars for supporting roles:

Hattie McDaniel – Gone with the Wind 1939
    Whoopie Goldberg – Ghost 1990
    Jennifer Hudson – Dreamgirls 2006
    Mo’Nique – Precious 2009
Octavia Spencer – The Help 2011
    Lupito Nyong’o – 12 Years a Slave 2013
    Viola Davis – Fences 2016
Regina King – If Beal Street Could Talk 2108

  4. Best POSTERS in Halle Berry Video 1/Catwoman 2/Gothika 3/Perfect Stranger [surprise though Halle getting billed before Demi’s former doormat] 4/Frankie & Alice 5/Robots 6/Things Lost in the Fire 7/Swordfish 8/Die Another Day 9/Jungle Fever 10/foreign language one for Kingsman 11/Bulworth 12/Joel’s Ball 13/John Wick 3.

Top notch STILLS 1/Halle and Brucie in Perfect Stranger 2/two for Flintstones 3/Boomerang 4/Robots 5/two for Catwoman 6/sexy Halle in bikini in Die Another Day 7/Kingsman 8/Executive Decision9/Halle looking appealing on the couch 10/two for John Wick 3 11/ closing solo of a happy Halle.

In addition you have a long run of posters and stills for the X Men franchise. I do not like those movies but I found all your posters and stills for the films stunning and probably more than anything else in your video they raised my overall rating to 98.5% – all-in-all a hugely enjoyable presentation.

Ignoring Rango which WH is in the process of removing altogether from Halle’s charts you and he agree on 5 of her Top 6 best reviewed flicks with you going for Cloudy Atlas and him plumping instead for Bulworth.

That’s almost a full house in terms of Top 6 agreement between you but the two of you are very far apart for Catwoman which you rank 26th out of 26 movies and give a 43% rating and he awards it a 24% one [savage for even that ole ratings warrior The Work Horse] and he ranks it second from the very bottom of his Reviewed list of the 37 movies. I’ve never seen it so I can’t comment but IMDB comes down in roughly the middle of the pair of you with a 33% rating

    1. Hi Bob, thanks for the review, generous rating, info, trivia, stats and comparison, much appreciated. Happy you liked the posters and stills.

Is Halle Berry the only black woman to win a Best Actress Oscar? whoa! I knew that Hattie McDaniel was the first black actor to win any sort of Oscar but wasn’t sure if there were more Best Actress winners.

Just three years later Halle won a Worst Actress Razzie Award for Catwoman, from one extreme to the other. Sandra Bullock won both Oscar and Razzie in the same year and she turned up to collect her worst actress award (for All About Steve) surprising the organizers of the Razzie awards.

Two films scored 9 out of 10 in Halle’s filmography – Monster’s Ball and Bulworth, not enough to get to the top when all the scores were calculated.
      6 films scored 8 out of 10.

John Wick 3 tops Bruce’s chart, that may be because it was added to the page as soon as it first started getting ratings at aggregator sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic but after a week or two the ratings start to dip.

“There’s art and there’s commerce. You have to find a way to mesh the two. It’s important to do the little movies just for the love of the art. But it’s those big movies that take you around the world and make you globally famous.”

“I guess you could say I have bad taste in men. But I no longer feel the need to be someone’s wife.”
