Research interests: Journalism studies, globalization, digital transformation of learning and education. Philosophy of knowledge, urban semiotics, discourses of multicultural society, social justice and inclusive civil society.
BA from the University of Oslo, MA and PHD from the University of Minnesota, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where I also worked as a TA for Professors Philip Tichenor, Chin Chuan Lee, Michael Griffin, Robert Craig and Donna Schwartz. Part of my time as a PhD student also working as co-editor of the student newspaper Minnesota Daily.
Researcher at the University of Oslo, Associate Professor at the University of Bergen, NLA University College and the Norwegian Business School. Associate professor and professor at the University of Agder.
Founder and head of the Future Learning Lab research center and the World Learning Summit (annual, international conference). Cofounder of Norsk Medietidsskrift, founder of Alternative Framtid Magazine.
Visiting scholar twice (2008-2009, 2014-2015) at Stanford University, collaborating since then with Stanford staff to globalize the World Learning Summit.
Have taught journalism and media studies in Uganda and Ethiopia, since 2005. Frequent guest lecturer at the University of Iceland. Other guest lectures intermittently in various European universities.
