Okay I hate not posting much and then popping up to say something negative but like,,, this fandom constantly talking about how “ugly” background characters in the outsiders movie is super disheartening. I have never and will never understand commenting on appearances- there’s a difference between I don’t find (x) attractive and (x) is ugly. As a whole, we as a fandom tend to do the second, saying things like C Thomas Howell now “looks like a sundried tomato” or shitting on Curly’s actor/the background greasers in the rumble scene. Those are real people behind those characters! No matter how unattractive you find them, you can bet your personality is 100% uglier if you’re taking the time out of your day to talk about how they don’t fit your standards of aesthetics.

glad someone said this <3

it’s important to always spread love, and judging people based on appearance is not something i’ll ever support

This was a beautiful response. I’m so glad you were able to make this kind when I was coming from a place of impulsive anger. You’re very well spoken. Thank you ❤️✨

whenever a customer buys a la croix steve and soda give each a look of despair as they tell the buyer to have a good day through gritted teeth

I went looking for this post specifically cause of y’all’s drink discourse @comeheredarlingg @tulsachic @8osbabe — no need to tag yourselves we know exactly who is who in this scenario

TOP TEN ANIME BETRAYALS: STEVE AND SODA DISLIKING LA CROIX AT NUMBER 1

THEY’RE RIGHT AND YOU’RE TOO MUCH OF A COWARD TO ADMIT IT

I WILL ARGUE ITS AN ACT OF BRAVERY TO CRACK OPEN A COLD ONE WITH THE BOYS

As the op, I have to ask: what boys are you planning on cracking them with?

tysm i love you i won’t lie i post pretty sporadically but i’m still here!! still here :)

realistically, do you think any of the gang would date a black girl? i just don’t see them ever doing it but i’d like to know your take

for some of them, yes! the outsiders takes place in the 1960s, when the civil rights movement was at its height. i can see johnny, soda, and even darry dating black girls, as they’re the most empathetic and considerate of the gang.

steve, two, dallas, and pony, i’m not sure. they’re all influenced heavily by a lot of negative aspects of society. however, everything that leads me to say that is more s.e hinton’s fault then theirs. the outsiders isn’t a perfect book, and i cringe when i see black people in it (or that was then, this is now and rumble fish. i love those books too, but they’re reallyyyyy rough in terms of how black people are presented) being described as “black cats”.

based on their actual personalities, yes, i think the boys would date black girls. based on actual characterization directly from the book, due to hinton’s ignorance, i don’t think all of them would. and that sucks. but it’s not really their faults. despite that, there’s no excuse for the way black people are portrayed in hinton’s novels- especially considering she did grow up with that civil rights influence.

Could you do a headcanon for Johnny being with an affectionate reader?

~Blushes whenever you kiss him or mess his hair in public

~Stares at you with an open-mouthed grin whenever you grab his hand or wink at him

~Has become so accustomed to touching you, he links your ankles/holds your hand under the table when you’re out

~Gives you his jacket to wear even when he knows you’re not cold

~Shakes your hand off at lightening speed if he thinks he sees his dad’s car (he assures you each time it’s out of protection and not shame)

~Walks with a bit more confidence when your arm is draped over his shoulder

~Looks at glaring socs with an expression like “I know right??? crazy!” when you’re kissing him at the drive-in

~Feels a burst of pride when he has to wipe off the lipstick you left on his cheek

may i get some sodapop angst headcanons (not involving a reader) cause i'm in a mood™

yain’t in a mood anymore cuz this ask is at least a month old but here you go!!

~Cries constantly when he’s upset

~Screams and lashes out at the people he loves (namely Steve) because he knows they’ll forgive him

~Takes Darry’s truck and recklessly drives around at night

~Goes to restaurants or shops and steals without checking to see who’s watching

~Rubs his eyes so hard he bruises the sockets, and plays it off like he got in a fight

~Sleeps on the couch so Ponyboy won’t worry about hearing his big brother cry

~Tries to write angry letters, but scribbles out whatever he wrote because Soda thinks he sounds so stupid he doesn’t even want to look at it

~When someone finally calms Soda down and hugs him, Soda buries his face in the crook of their neck and just… sobs

hey lovely! i just found your blog and read so many of your ponyboy works and everything was so, so beautiful and soft and i think you’re an amazing writer! i loved how everything felt really realistic and i just wanted to tell u that ur amazing 💛💛💫

thank you! i best thing i can be told as a writer in any of my fandoms is that i portray the characters realistically, or in a way faithful to them, so i appreciate this message so so SO much! aside from that, this message is full of positivity and i love it. i’m sending it all back your way 💖

omg definitely ponyboy in some aspects but I’m not sure why. you also kind of remind me of Darry which is strange? you seem very responsible and mature

wow, thank you. i tend to be the darry of my friend group, i’m always being like “no, maybe don’t physically fight that girl when it’s eleven at night and we’re in a denny’s” and “you haven’t eaten??? good thing i keep rx bars in my purse/car!!!”, but I also overthink like ponyboy ya feel? overall i’m happy you think i’m like those two and am glad you decided to tell me <3
