• percy’s gender (percy is nonbinary dwi) - half done
• percy has depression - need a copy of chalice of the gods
• everyone is too mean to percy for no reason and sometimes i want them to burn (mostly because Rick is a bad writer) - reread the original series and take notes.
• percy’s sexuality - rough outline. need citations. need to reread original series.
• jason grace is a beautiful soft boy and if you write him being a chauvinist prick you are wrong - need to outline. not sure how to proceed. suggestions appreciated.

Being a Sword does have some overlap with being a Guard Dog but there’s some important differences. A Guard Dog can go off leash. A Guard Dog needs to be trained, and rewarded, and serves out of love or duty or force or something. A Guard Dog is fundamentally a living animal that acts in a specific way due to its instincts or its desires or its sense of love and loyalty. A Sword might have all of those things. A Sword might feel love, a Sword might hate, a Sword might want affection. The fundamental difference is that it doesn’t matter what a Sword feels or thinks. It’s a Sword. It doesn’t matter if it hates you. It doesn’t matter if you love it. It cuts just the same.

Are you tired of me pointing out the Sanji & Usopp parallels yet? Well too bad! Here’s more.

Gee, I wonder why Sanji, the guy who was told by his family he should “just leave” for being weak when he was a kid, got so upset when Luffy was about to tell Usopp, who was clearly feeling insecure for being the “weak” one of the group, to “just leave”.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. Sometimes I watch this scene (from Water 7) and all I can think about is Sanji flashing back to his horrible family and panicking, which I think is WHY he reacts so violently to Luffy’s (unspoken) words here (also he knows Luffy can take it, isnt worried he’ll actually get injured).

I also feel like, a lot of people miss it, but Sanji is very PROTECTIVE of Usopp! In Alabasta, after defeating Bon Clay, Sanji first runs to check and make sure that USOPP is the one who is okay (not Nami or one of the girls). In Skypeiea he risks his life for both Nami and Usopp on seperate occasions on the Arc Maxim. In Water 7 (on the Puffing Tom) he is the one who is most tolerant of his need to hide his identity. He tries to stop Blueno from hurting him, and then in Enies Lobby he is the one to remind him everyone has different strengths!

I think Sanji is someone who always wants to protect anyone who might be “weak,” but I feel like with Usopp in particular he sees a lot of himself and is always looking out for him. There’s no doubt that in this scene he is the one who understood Usopp’s feelings the most.
