But often the history student cannot see what the teacher can sees instead. A means of overcoming this barrier are digital humanities that can form historical awareness and criticism in the student by practically implementing the idea of the student holistic path, the implementation of his vertical curriculum and lifelong learning. Through digital skills it is possible to approach the understanding of history, teaching and the world.

From this premise born the story teaching project, which falls within the macro area of public history, concerning the archival sources analyzed and the creation of educational workshops for elementary, middle and high schools. The aim is to address a specific research topic, the concept of family present in some documents of the diocesan archive of Modena-Nonantola. The work continues by analyzing 11th century documents, documents concerning the Tridentine council and to Napoleonic ones. Educational workshops have been developed that deal with the concept of family from the Middle Ages until the dawn of the contemporary age.
