his beady eyes watched you through the mirror, he knew you could sense him there. from the way your fearful eyes met his in the reflection as you were frozen to one spot in panic.
"beomgyu." you whisper, a small smile curling onto his lips as his name leaves yours.
translucent hands reach for you, but you dodge, running away again. you're running away again.
but it doesn't matter, there's no where you could go where he wouldn't be with you anyway.
a/n: don’t be surprised if i just start writing fics in lowercase one day lol
it was dark and late at night as taehyun closed the passenger’s side door behind you before entering the drivers side to take you home. he inserted the keys in the car, the engine revving up.
“that was fun. wasn’t it?” you smiled sleepily at taehyun, rubbing your eyes.
“yeah,” he replied quietly. “totally.” taehyun backed the car out of its parking spot slowly before turning the wheel and driving the car down the road. his tone of voice was monotone, flat, apathetic— and you noticed. he knew it, he knew that you would know, he just wasn’t sure how to stop you from knowing. how could he? how could he if you were his best friend?

bang chan x gn!reader. angst / soulmate au / bf2e. 300 words. request: hey bestie can I get a soulmate au with Chan🥺 but like freaking angst🧍🏾♀️is this too much for a drabble— nah [ from @binniebutter ]
after years of fearing the inevitable fate of finding your soulmate, it finally happened. his name was hyunjin, and he was incredibly nice. he understood your anxieties and didn’t once force anything on you, never asking anything from you.
unlike what everyone thought, the fears you had weren’t rooted in the idea of finding your soulmate; it was the knowledge of who you’d lose when you finally did: bang chan.
he’d been your best friend since before you could remember; you knew everything about him, and vice versa.
you knew how opposed he was to the soulmate laws, and he knew how much you looked forward to finding the one you were “destined to be with.”
he tried to wait it out. chan tried to wait for you to tell him about it, for you to tell him you’d found your soulmate - but it never happened. you kept it a secret from him for weeks, and he felt betrayed. he’d seen you with him at a cafe, standing in line.
he was jealous.
chan hated the way you smiled, giggling at something this stranger said. he hated the way you held his hand, fingers laced with those of the stranger.
he hated him.
when you finally told him, he didn’t say anything. he simply stood up, back to you when he spoke finally, “i knew.” he opened the door of your apartment, being met by the face of hyunjin. chan glared at the man and pushed past him, shoulder shoving into that of the stranger.
chan didn’t stop and turn around when he heard you call for him. he didn’t turn to make sure you were okay when you cried out, a sob forcing its way out of your throat. he just kept walking, not once turning back.
“Shut up, Donghyuck! She must’ve already heard you by now.”
Everyone shushed each other before crouching down onto the floor, eagerly waiting for your entrance. In seconds you walked in, shopping bag in your hand with Jaehyun trailing behind you. You couldn’t see the stupid grin all over his face, but instead focused on your watch. “Oh I knew we shouldn’t have gone out so late, its already midn-”
“Happy birthday Y/N!”
You shrieked, letting go of your bag before shrinking completely into Jaehyun, who whispered a small ‘happy birthday’ into your ear. You looked at him and then at the others, walking straight ahead to give each one a hug.
Once your hi-hellos were over you strided over to your husband, smacking his chest, “You’re quite the planner, aren’t you?”
He giggled, quickly changing his smiley expression into a smoulder, “I bet you didn’t know.”
“Oh no, I knew,” You quickly spoke, kissing his cheek softly, “Your ‘whisper voice’ isn’t really a whisper.”
He laughed, grabbing your hand in his, “Did you like it?”
You nodded. Before he could say thing to you, you winked at him, “I need my cake, though.”

Word Count: 4,1k
the spirit who had been guarding the south side of the mountain, a nine-tailed fox, is requested by the crown prince of Joseon to make an appearance before his betrothed. though reluctant at first, he agrees on condition that their meeting is fleeting and under the guise of a mask.
a/n: this was inspired by the kdrama ‘tale of the nine-tailed’, hence the similar elements. events may or may not be historically accurate. ++ i’m really anxious about how this fic will be taken, but i’ve put too much effort in to let it sit in my drafts ksks. might post the part 2 if you want! let me know what you think!
(finally posting this as a gift for the immense support i’ve been receiving! thank you! ❤️ and low-key bc sumi has been thinkin about kitsune yeonjun)
Sealed by the promise of two youths many moons ago, your betrothal to the crown prince of Joseon was something which was not unbeknownst to anyone in the country. Many young ladies, noble and common alike, coveted your fortune and would make desperate pleas to the gods to have half the luck you did. And perhaps anyone else would have boasted about how fate had favoured them, but you didn’t.
“(Y/n)? Are you listening?” his highness asked, raising an eyebrow as you continued to flip through the pages of a book you had picked up from his desk. You placed the book back where you found it and turned to look from the pavilion, out across the pond and above the canopy tops to the mountains in the distance.
What had intrigued you about the palace was not the status, nor the riches, nor the people who dwelt within it. After all, you preferred to be neck-deep in books of history and literature, poetry, and volumes which questioned which was myth and which was reality. Your father, though, was as open-minded as anyone else was about the education of women at the time – not at all. So you had resorted to killing two birds with one stone; appeasing your father by agreeing to meet with the prince meant getting your hands on books you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.
But today, you had an entirely different motive.
“Do you believe in mythical beings, your Highness?” you asked, turning to face the prince who stared back at you, wide-eyed.
You never thought you’d see him again. Yet here he was, standing right before you in the middle of the courtyard.
Had it been a week? A month? No, it was a year. A complete year since you walked out of each others lives. You didn’t know when the spark between the two of you blew out. What you did know is that having him before your eyes made you wish you could restart and give your failed love another shot.
He hadn’t noticed you, the only other person in the vicinity of the courtyard, yet there he was; nose deep in his film appreciation textbook, coffee in his left hand, hoodie covering his slightly messy hair. And you were suddenly thrusted back in time into what was now a distant memory.
You were sitting down on an empty bench in the art department trying to make sense of your anthropology notes. You yanked your hoodie over your face on the verge of tears when a familiar set of arms engulfed you from behind. And just like that, all your fears and worries about your anthropology exam subsided.
“Hey, hey no crying” he said as you leaned back into him. “But it’s too hard” you reply in an exasperated tone, tilting your head back to get a better view of the man holding you in his arms. Your boyfriend.
“You’ve got this,” he replies and places a kiss on the side of your head. “You’re the smartest person in the world baby. And that’s coming from me.” You couldn’t help but feel the eyeroll and smirk that plastered your skin. “This is why I love you,” you say sighing deeply before grabbing his hands and caressing them softly. You were met in response with millions of tiny kisses before you fully turned around and kissed the man you were deeply in love with.
The kiss was short-lived, but strong, passionate and sweet. You pulled away only to be met by his dark twinkling eyes. “Let’s get you to class, your free periods about to end.” You reluctantly sit up, so he can get up while you gather your belongings before he holds out a hand for you to take. And that’s when your sleep deprived mind decided to yawn, alerting the man infront of you that you were running low on fuel. You heard him sigh, before he handed you a thermos; his thermos. You look up to see him smiling at you before saying “I figured you stayed up late. I made you my very own homemade Vanilla Latte.”You take the thermos and carry it in your left hand while walking hand in hand with your boyfriend through the courtyard to your last class of the day. The laughter between the two of you ringing in your ears.
Laughter.
The faint laughter that brought you out of the distant memory and back to the present. As you see a girl wrap her arms around your ex-boyfriend’s shoulders laughing as he kisses her cheek. “Wonwoo stop it, we have to go. We promised Gyu we’d meet him for lunch” she said.
Wonwoo put his book up, before he put his arm around his new girlfriend, drinking his coffee using his left hand. As they made their way towards you from the other end of the courtyard. You felt your phone vibrate in your hand, which prompted you to to snap out of the attention you were giving the two and start walking to your class.
You looked up for a moment, and when you did your eyes collided with Wonwoo’s. And mustering up all the courage you could, you gave him a small smile. His eyes, as shiny as ever, responded as to say “long time no see” before he gave you a small smile and a nod.
And so, you walked, you walked without looking back. He was happy. He found love again. Your heart ached for JeonWonwoo in ways you didn’t comprehend, your heart yearned for his smile and his eyes to be yours again. For his heart to be open to your love once more.
If only… if only there was a way to go back and hit rewind.
You had no idea how many days had passed by, no track of
time whatsoever. Nothing made sense to you. No one felt yours. You felt
weak. You had started ghosting your
online friends, even your offline ones. You’re phone’s battery had been dead
for a few days now. You hadn’t heard any song, watched any drama or movie. You
had no feelings, whether it was you feeling hungry, or you wanting to visit the
restroom. It was your body that forced you. You weren’t sleepy, yet you didn’t
feel quite awake either. You were just there, but somehow, you weren’t.
You lay in your dark, cold room. The doors were shut, so
were the windows. The blinds had been closed for a month straight. Your eyes
hurt, so did your back. Well, mostly everything hurt, but the thing that hurt
most, was your heart.
Why? Only you knew.
Your parents were very concerned about you. They hadn’t seen
you for a long time now. They thought the only solution to your problem was the
one person you held very dear, to whom you couldn’t say no to.
Park Sunghoon, a skater
boy, whom you met 6 years ago at a skating rink. He was the boy who had stolen
your heart. You had, 2 years ago, given
your heart to him for safe keeping, and to your surprise, he had taken it,
promising to protect it for eternity.
Though slowly now, you had started to think he was breaking
his promise. Last year, he had become a
trainee for one of South Korea’s biggest entertainment companies called
“Bighit”. In the end of June 2020, he had signed up for participating in a
survival show called “I-LAND”. You had supported him strongly, and voted for
him. You had to, he was your boyfriend. Then finally, on the faithful day of 18th
September 2020, he was selected as the 6th member of the debut team,
“ENHYPEN”.
You were happy for him that day, you really were, but
something wasn’t right. When he was a trainee, you could spend the weekends
with him. However, since he had joined “I-LAND” you hadn’t seen him, and now,
he was about to debut. He was about to become a global idol, which meant that
you won’t be able to see him anymore.
It was the fear that had eaten you up since that day till
the present one. You weren’t ready to let go, he was your “everything”.
You could feel tears streaming down your cheeks as you tried
to revive those memories, flashbacking to the past.
*knock, knock* “Y/N-ah, open up!” .This voice was way too
familiar.
*knock, knock* “Y/N, I know you’re in there!”
You ran towards the door, and unlocked it, not even thinking
about wiping away your tears or even making yourself presentable enough.
“S - Sunghoon? Is that really you?” you asked.
And there he was, even more handsome than before.
His eyes were filled with concern as he searched your face.
He couldn’t bear to watch you like this. It hurt him to see you like this. He embraced you and as he did, you broke down
openly.
He sat you down on the bed in your bedroom, and turned on
the light. He knew how much you hated crying infront of others.
“There there, its okay, love, I’m here for you. Breathe.” He
whispered caressing your cheeks, wiping away a tear of yours with his thumb.
Once you were back to normal, he spoke,
“What happened, love? Your mom and dad told me that you
hadn’t eaten and slept properly. Neither had you been talking to them properly.
You had been in this room for so long. I’m worried babe, what’s going on?” he
showed worry in his tone.
You took a deep breath.
“I-I’m sorry.” you hiccupped.
“Don’t be babe, tell me, what’s going on?” He asked
soothingly.
“I-it’s just t-that, I fear losing y-you. You’ve b-been
there f-for me ever s-since we were c-children, a-and now, y-you’re so busy
with a-all that idol s-stuff, I’m- I’m afraid that everything w-we had w-will
be g-g-gone…” You started crying again.
He gave you a hug again and shushed you.
“Shhh, my love, you should know that my love for you is
stronger than anything. You think I’ll let us go that easily? What we have is
special, and ‘us’ being apart will strengthen our love for each other. Think of
it as-as, umm, strength, not a weakness.” He comforted you
“B-but what about a-all those beautiful, a-attractive idol
girls? T-they’re no m-match for me!” You said
He pulled away, and this time, with a strict tone, said;
“Babe, you should know that no one, NO ONE, can
replace you. The heart of Park Sunghoon
only belongs to you and you only, and I promise, that whenever I get free time,
I’ll call you! That’s a promise!”
You looked up to him and smiled
“There’s my good girl!” He said as he kissed your check.
You now believed that he really did love you, and no one
would be able to break you apart.
Everything was back to normal again. As it was late, your
parents decided that Sunghoon should stay for dinner, and a little while after
that.
After dinner, you were back in your room with the love of
your life, catching up to things.
“I told you Y/N, You are IRREPLACEABLE!” He said once again
You laughed, “Oh yeah, you know how you are incredibly
handsome?”
“Yeah, I know that, so…?” Sunghoon asked, curiosity
“What if Irene proposes you?” You asked smirking.
“Well…. That could be an exception…” He said
teasingly.
“PARK SUNGHOON!” You shouted, hitting him with a pillow near
you.
“Ahhh!” Sunghoon exclaimed, and the two of you spent the
rest of the night together, because you knew, not even the greatest force on
earth could tear you apart. You were, till the end of the world, forever
together.
As Yeonjun walked down the hall back stage, he could literally hear his own heart beating over all the music and noise coming from outside. They just finished a showcase. Yeonjun, being a perfectionist, gave his best. He didn't take risks. He didn't have regrets. Except one. He fondly remembered all the years he spent with you as he ran to his dressing room.
One
"Y/N let's just skip the class no one will notice" he said. "Can you shut up and do your homework? I literally gave you mine to copy, you disgraceful brat." you said. The giggles that he broke into were music to your ears reminding just how much you love your best friend. But he didn't know.
Two
You two were in the school cafeteria, sitting in one corner. You ate your lunch quietly as yeonjun talked to this other girl. Honestly, you didn't mind. You were used to it. He was Choi Yeonjun after all. Suddenly you heard someone calling your name. You turned around and saw your classmate there. You were paired up with him for this stupid economics project. He was a nice guy, fun to be around. As you discussed the topics and laughed, you didn't notice the way yeonjun looked at you. Slight hurt and jealousy visible in his eyes. He tried to reassure himself but he couldn't help but feel that way. This feeling reminding him just how much he loved his best friend. But you didn't know.
Three
"Y/N...I- i got in" he whispered while looking down at his phone. You tore your eyes away from the laptop screen to see him. The second you made eye contact, you saw the happiness in his eyes. He was tearing up and so were you. It was his dream after all! To debut as a kpop star. And he worked hard for it. He finally passed an audition and you both couldn't be more happy. He engulfed you in a hug, crying.
The day soon came. The day where he would leave you. He promised that you both would still be best friends but you couldn't help but feel sad. And the promise of still being best friends? Well, the last word didn't help. Little did you know the last word was too much for him to say too. Friends. That's what you were. As he entered the airport and you turned around to leave, it reminded of how much you love each other. But you both didn't know.
He now stood in front of the door. Nervous would be an understatement. You guys were meeting after 4 years after all. And calls didn't do justice with your feelings. As soon as he pushed the door open, he saw you there. Looking so different yet all the same. "Hi" he said. "Hi yeonjun" you said. You both rushed towards each other for a hug. And something felt...different. This time, you both knew. You both realized how much you love each other and just a hug did that. What would a kiss do? Well you found that out just as he pulled away and captured your lips with his.
