Tepid. That's what I felt after seeing this (S1+ova+s2).
The author was being too careful to keep it clean and somehow it left me feeling a little bored. There are so many many many better romcoms out there. See this only if you can't find anything better.
Its not bad. But I did not feel it was worth the time.

It wasn't bad, no really, but for me it was a bit lacking in many areas, the 12 eps went by fast but at the same time it didn't really cover much story, I guess it was more character development, it also felt just a bit forced, hollow and rushed, sometimes things get resolved a bit too fast and easy and quite a few people went a bit too far just to scare her off, just to show us how brave she is, and she is but it could have been done better. Then we get the pointless backstory of random kidnapper, like anyone asked or cares, why ? because he's probably gonna show up again later.
It also felt like it wasn't taking anything seriously, at least in the beginning, I mean they were fighting outnumbered with swords but they were knocking them out instead of what would be far more realistic, killing them (see ep 5), I guess it's a bit too lighthearted, but it also tries to be serious, it's a bit confused/ing.
6/10. Maybe the manga version will be better.

Probably the best fantasy romantic drama I've ever seen. The characters all come across as believable and plot and character development are very good.

Excellent romance. No stupid clichés, no stupid actions for the sake of screen time prolongation, cheap pathos, or no less cheap attempts to squeeze a tear from the viewer with completely inappropriate dramatic scenes. As a person who has watched a huge amount of anime, including this genre, I can say that this is a perfectly verified story with an interesting plot and very little interspersed of intrigues and cruelty. Surprisingly, I did not find anything to complain about in this anime at all. A rare example when stereotypes and mainstream are inferior to solid quality. 10/10.

A jewel for veteran romance fans, this fantasy-themed anime has everything you can expect from a delightful shoujo story: a nice, original plot, likeable protagonists, a charming setting, supporting characters that are actually supporting and a cute, delicate and above all heartwarming, honey-sweet romantic aspect. Hayami Saori's voice acting is superb. As a renowned seiyuu, she is capable of voicing both cute and psychotic characters (ahem, Kakegurui), and here she does what she does brilliantly, completely capturing the type of character Shirayuki is supposed to be. Animation was also great, with vibrant colors, and also felt less superficial and artificial that other productions from the same year.
Overall, an excellent romance anime. Check it out if you are a fan of that genre.

Everyone calls this a slow-paced romance, but compared to most shows in general and in the romance genre in particular I found it pretty quick. In the span of 12 episodes, the protagonists meet, get to know each other, build, admit and accept their respective feelings for one another, kiss and even start a tentative relationship.
It gets a lot done in just those 12 episodes, both story- and character development-wise. It just does so without unnecessary bullshit or melodrama. It's very emotionally grounded. That in particular made it very refreshing to me. It's just a very direct, genuine, heartfelt love story. No cheese, no fuss. Don't get that a lot anymore, easy recommendation.

If you like heartwarming romance this is just for you!
I have been in love with the manga of it for a long time and am almost as much in love with the anime now. The couple is just so cute, the relationship builds up very nicely - also the relationship between them and the secondary characters.
The artwork is really beautiful and the music accentuates it perfectly.
It's a pure joy to watch this series!

Definitely recommend this to anyone who hasn't had their heart strings tugged in a while. Super cute couple here! A prince and a maiden find love, A bit slow but its well worth its time!

Wonderful tale, highly recommended. Solid romance with background (can't really call it plot in this case). I think its going to develop. We have only a little informations but it's getting still better and better. Very nice main and side characters, can't stop watching :) btw It's slow, it's very slow but that doesn't make it worse.
