This lacklustre work pales in comparison with the original OVA much more than Progressive, which can at least stand independently by itself.
Overall, it’s a weak show that feels more like a stitched-together collection of production B-sides than a stand-alone, if that makes sense.
It has a great ED and a somewhat decent development of a supporting character initially, but it’s really grasping at straws here.
In other words, compared to Progressive, Alternative felt like an afterthought. The reason for its existence is unclear.
