It's good. I think I would've liked this movie more in a certain teenage angsty phase in my life, but it does what it wants to do very competently. There's a lot more depth than I expected in the second half (which I enjoyed much more than the first as it's a bit clichéd, but not bad) of the movie.
PS: Kyouko's character profile is criminally underrated (5.9 right now). She's the kind of best friend we all need in our life.

This was absolutely beautuful! I havn't seen such an emotional anime for a long time. Everything was done right in this movie. I feel pretty stupid for not watching it sooner because of its title..

Over the years I've seen many anime drama romance movies and series, and they have a way to pierce through me. The japanese got it. "Love" is just a word that tries to capture something profound that only happens once or twice in a lifetime that blows you away and gives you a sense of the meaning of life and the interlocking of the eternal dance of opposites that give you a glimpse of the whole - material and trancendental. I have always known intuitively that feelings are the reason of the body-soul, but only a few pieces of art will erupt this "understanding" that can only be experienced to be understood. Your pain and longing resonates, for it cries to be answered and to be taken on an esoteric journey - the path within.

A beautiful movie. It is one of those films where the journey matters more than the destination. Because we know what the destination is, we must enjoy the journey wholeheartedly, right? And it doesn't disappoint. It is a great story, not just about romance, but about growing up, about accepting one's own fate and about camaraderie. So the plot is really good, in my opinion. The protagonists are well-scripted, both of them facing trials and tribulations that will eventually decide their fate. Animation is nothing special, but still good. Towards the end, the emotional rollercoaster becomes wilder, and you will cry. The final plot twist before the curtain inevitably falls is unexpected. One thing I can say, is that Sakura didn't listen to Dr. Dre's song "Deep Water". Not because of anything related to water, of course. But, I digress. The ending is sad, but also beautiful, if you know what I mean.
All in all, a great movie that touches your heart's bowels. Highly recommended.

It is very rare for a movie to make someone connect with it's characters in such a (relatively) short amount of time.
I postponed watching this one as I knew what I was getting myself into. This movie made me go from "smiling/laughing like an idiot" to "try not to cry,roll over,cry a lot" so prepare yourself for an emotional rollercoaster. There are very subtle details in direction that will ascertain to you, that this movie is of high quality one instance being that we don't get to know the protagonist's name until the very end of the movie(and for a very good reason). Some really colorful and bright backgrounds as well as a very fitting title to a rather sad story that would normally go under the radar(the title itself was what drew me in to watch it).
Love stories like this one surely are scarce in real life but I guess it sure is nice to be a dreamer :)
