Fujita Mariko is an animator, character designer and animation director. When she was a student, she was inspired to become an animator after seeing an illustration of Combattler V's Nanbara Chizuru drawn by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu for an issue of Animage.
After attending the vocational school Kokusai Animation Kenkyuujo she joined animation studio Random where she debuted as an in-betweener, working her way up to the position of key animator before transferring to Studio Fantasia where she remained for many years. She first attracted substantial attention for participating as an animation director for Studio Fantasia's episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura and, in light of her popularity, was selected as the character designer for Galaxy Angel. During this time, she worked as part of Madhouse's internal team while still belonging to Studio Fantasia.
Other popular works she served as a character designer for include Rosario to Vampire, Kampfer, Shukufuku no Campanella, Jewelpet Sunshine, and R-15.
