The historical links to today are undeniable.

Another day, another five defendants charged with fabricated crimes after preventing their neighbours from being hauled off in a bus to a prison barge to await deportation go free, after all charges are dropped in court! Full story above.

Help the remaining 30-odd defendants achieve a similar result by donating to their defence here.

Calling security measures-- which we dont have to like but we also don't have to exaggerate or push lies by christofascist racist Adrien Zenz over--in Xinjiang a genocide in the face of a real documented genocide is vulgar and ignorant. Are the east turkmenistan freedom fighters currently supporting israel & participating in alawite ethnic cleaning in syria part of a legitimate self-determination movement? Please learn more before regurgitating information you know little about.

Ah, yes, point out that China is committing a genocide against the Uighur people in Xinjiang and the tankies come crawling out from under their rocks.

Calling the genocide of Uighurs a “security measure” makes as much sense as calling the Russian invasion of Ukraine a “special military operation” or calling the Vietnam war a “police action.” It’s semantic subterfuge with the goal of disguising human rights atrocities.

Anon, here’s the definition of genocide that both the International Criminal Court & the UN go by: certain acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. The acts that constitute genocide fall into five categories:

  • Killing members of the group
  • Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group
  • Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction, in whole or in part
  • Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group
  • Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

So let’s see now:

The BBC, having obtained Chinese police records in 2022, have documented the forced capture and detention of over a million Uighurs, held captive in detention camps they published satellite images of, where guards have “shoot-to-kill” orders for dealing with escapees. OK, that’s all bad (and none of it relies on Adrien Zenz’s opinion), but that’s not quite genocide.

The forced sterilization of large numbers of Uighur women, on the other hand, would qualify as genocide. As would the forced separation of Uighur children from their parents - something confirmed by Chinese officials the BBC spoke to. The information about this does come from published research by Zenz - research you’ve done little to disprove other than calling him names. The Associated Press also reported on the forced sterlilzation of Uighur women, confirming it independently. Amnesty International also independently verified the forced separation of Uighur children from their parents, as has Human Rights Watch.

Human Rights Watch’s 53-page report (which was not written by Adrien Zenz, by the way) confirms use of torture by Chinese authorities in the Uighur detention camps, including electroshock, sleep deprivation, being hung from ceilings, and being beaten by guards while strapped into “tiger chairs.”

The UN’s Working Group On Business and Human Rights have echoes these claims in calling for China to comply with international human rights law.

Dismissing actual genocide as a “security measure” makes you complicit in the genocide, Anon. Do better.

(SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO CLICK THE LINK AND GIVE ELON MUSK’S PLATFORM A BIGGER AUDIENCE:

This is bascially a tweet responding to another post. The first post says “Accoring to Trump, it’s ‘patriotic’ to boycott Bud Light for letting a trans person do an ad, but 'illegal’ to boycott Tesla because their billionaire founder is taking money from starving children.”

The response is: “Who remembers when the right burned down Bud factories and stores that sold it, also when they assaulted people for drinking it ? No on
e.”)

First off: WTF are you doing on Twitter (yes, Twitter, we will ALWAYS dead-name that social media platform!)? Who gives a rat’s ass what far-right chodes are posting there? Fuck that entire platform and anyone on it at this point in the game.

Second off: yes, we remember when people were assaulted for drinking Bud Light.

Third off: no Tesla factories have been burned down by anyone. A cursory Google search doesn’t come up with any verifiable stories about Tesla drivers being assaulted (but does come up with SEVERAL stories about Tesla drivers assaulting other people!). So the responder is not responding with fiction, not facts. They’re claiming that Tesla factories have been burned down and Tesla drivers have been assaulted for driving Teslas, so it’s on them to show-and-prove.

So the responder is attempting to retort a correct observation that Trump does a 180 about consumer boycotts when the boycott is not aligned with his beliefs by making false claims about “the left” burning down Tesla factories and assaulting Tesla drivers and pretending that people were not assaulted by “the right” during the Bud Light boycott by transphobes.

Done,

But really, Anon, why waste your time with fucking Twitter posts?
