Recipe video above. This is a one-pan meal with fish baked on top of a potato gratin in a creamy sauce with a golden crunchy topping. It's a cross between a casserole, gratin and a pie. The idea is that the panko acts like a lid, keeping the fish succulent as it bubbles away in the cream while the gratin soaks up the tasty fish juices.This is a fabulous cosy, rustic oven baked fish recipe that's effortless yet company worthy!

Saneyet Samak  Mémé (mémé’s oven-baked fish)



	1.	For the marinade, mince:
	⁃	1 head garlic
	⁃	1 green pepper
Add salt + black pepper + cumin + 2-3 lemons, juiced 
(You can experiment with adding other herbs and spices to the marinade, such as dried/ fresh cilantro )

	2.	Make slashes in the fish skin and rub marinade all over it and stuff inside. Leave to marinate in the fridge.

	3.	Preheat oven.
Chop/slice & layer in pan:
	⁃	1 L onion
	⁃	4 L potatoes 
	⁃	1 green pepper 
	⁃	1/2 b parsley 
	⁃	2 celery stalks 

	4.	Add 1 c water with any remaining marinade & drizzle olive oil,
	5.	Cook stovetop till potatoes are half done,
	6.	Lay fish over vegetables & squeeze 1 lemon & drizzle olive oil over each fish. Add lemon slices over each fish if desired.
	7.	Bake in oven till done (25-30 mins Oven Baked Fish, Egyptian Food, Lemon Drizzle, Fish Skin, Lemon Slices, Green Pepper, Baked Fish, Lemon Slice, Herbs And Spices
