Today, I’m going to show you how to install vertical shiplap in your kitchen and tips for making it secure and long lasting. NOTE: someone told me that vertical shiplap is board and batten…No!  Vertical shiplap is vertical shiplap. Board and batten is something entirely different. 

1. Since we have 9 ft ceilings we purchased the 12’ boards and cut to size
2. Working around outlets and 
Tricky corners but we finally got it! 
3. Horizontal shiplap is easier to install because you are always anchoring it to the studs. 
4. Vertical shiplap needs some type of strip to attach your ship lap to for install. Or you can use liquid nails. 
5. We opted for this method but the downfall…if you ever want to remove it you will have to replace your drywall
