Mel remained silent, her gaze distant and dreamy. Blaise watched her, the faintest smile tugging at his lips as he studied her expression. She seemed lost in thought, her fingers instinctively curling around his.
He couldn’t resist breaking the silence. “The butterbeer’s not that good,” he teased lightly. “How are you drunk already?”
Mel blinked, her eyes meeting his. She took a second to think, as if she actually felt the alcohol from butterbeer, making her reaction slower. Her voice was soft, almost a whisper, but the words hit him like a spell. “But you are.”
The sudden confession made his breath hitch as he stared at her, his mind racing. This girl was going to kill him, he thought.
And for some reason, that’s alright.
