"Come on, Haitham, let's see what you can do with that."

Beautiful, he wants to say, the word saccharine on the tip of his tongue. His initial assumptions are false—no marble pillar can shiver as beautifully as this miracle of flesh and muscles and tendons, wonderfully reactive. Kaveh wants to take him apart, unravel the threads of his relentless rationality until nothing remains of him but this humanity, all this softness that does not quite fit right with the rest of him.

Namun, siapa sangka bahwa di balik kegalakannya yang menyaingi macan kumbang, ternyata fisik Alhaitham selemah kucing rumah? Dalam sekali guyuran hujan sore, Alhaitham langsung terkapar tak berdaya di kasur. Batang hidungnya tak lagi muncul di ruang keluarga selama tiga hari belakangan.
Mengejutkannya, Kaveh diam-diam merasa kesepian.
Kejutan lain: ketika sakit, Alhaitham menampilkan sisi lain dari dirinya yang tak pernah ditunjukkan pada siapapun. Kaveh adalah orang pertama yang menyaksikannya secara langsung.

With the contract and his researcher reputation hanging over his head, Kaveh needed a test subject, someone who would give him honest feedback and be willing to go through all the toys together with him. Who else might be better than that one man who is blunt and open about everything he comes across?
