The brunette managed to find a handful of elementary students to follow him, but then they stumbled across a student with a strange vibe. While the stranger claims himself to be named Kamukura Izuru, the individual acts more like a sheep than a god. Clearly, this can't be the person everyone is searching for. That would be insane.

Saihara Shuichi does not want to stay in this world.
He declined his offer to Hope's Peak Academy, attending a regular high-school, but still can't seem to shake the burden that came with the title of 'Ultimate Detective'. The work he does for his uncle is only part-time, and he'd only solved that one murder case 'by accident' - obviously!
Following a depressive spiral and a breach of trust with his uncle, he finds himself admitted to Hope's Peak City Hospital where he meets two people who seem to know more about one another than meets the eye...
This fic does have a hopeful ending, but I implore you to double-check the tags - it's gonna be a bumpy ride. :)

Saihara pursed his lips, trying to hold back his cries. He was far too late for that. Oma slowly wrapped his arms around his beloved, that sweet, dark, unfamiliar expression on his face.
“I’m the only one who cares…and I…I am the only one you need. I can be everything for you…just like you’re everything to me. I love you, Shuichi…I’m the only one who loves you. I’ve stuck by your side for so long because I love you. I’ve brought you here because I love you. I’ve lied, I’ve killed, I’ve abducted and tormented…because I love you.”
He kissed Saihara on the cheek.
“I love you. I'm the only one.”
aka Oma Kokichi kidnaps Saihara Shuichi and shenanigans ensue. Hope's Peak AU, though it isn't exactly a prevalent detail in the story, as it takes place mostly in Saihara's house.
Update 4/9/24: I'm rewriting some of this bc the prose is utter dogshit. Main story plotpoints will be the same, but I want to improve my writing and by god I will.

Every teenager in town had been dared at least once to go to the condemned house at the edge of town.
Rumor had it that if you made your way to the top floor, you'd never come out alive again... That kinda killed (haha... how ironic) the passion of anyone who had planned to explore the house for themself. Even worse? Most said it was haunted by the unfortunate students who died there.This was until the self proclaimed "exorcist extraordinaire" and paranormal Youtuber Kaito Momota decided to take his "partner in crime" Maki Harukawa inside the house to "solve the murder" (aka; get over his fear of ghosts.)
Oh! And their friend from school / cameraman Shuichi Saihara was there too. Let's hope he doesn't get himself into anything too weird.

"A sense of dread shivers down his spine and settles in his gut. This is supposed to be a dream right…? The situation screams dream but with everything that’s happened it doesn’t feel like a dream. He moves his hand to pinch his arm, wincing at the pain. Shit. What’s going on? He looks around as he walks to the bottom of the steps, pausing at the bottom.
If this really isn’t a dream then… He just put a huge target on his back. She killed Rantaro for less. He’s now a target. He bites his lip nervously, checking over his shoulder up at the second floor to check if she’s watching him. No sight of the deep cobalt blue.
What happened? Everything should have been fine, right? Why is he back here? If this isn’t a dream then somehow, somehow, he ended up going back to the start of the killing game. But why…? There has to be a reason why he’s here. Do Maki and Himiko remember?
With a strong huff, he grabs his hat and takes it off, holding it in his hands before tossing it somewhere off behind the stairs and out of sight. If they do remember, it doesn’t matter. Why he’s here doesn’t matter. What matters is getting everyone out of the killing game. Alive. By any means necessary."
