Otto Octavius had everything. A loving wife, a cozy apartment in New York City, a well respected status in the field of science, and the power of the Sun in the palm of his hand. The Sun blinded him. He had to destroy it. He knew in order to do that, he'd have to go with it - and he was content with that. What he wasn't content with was the idea that he'd have to experience it again. He refused. And he'd do everything in his power to stop that from happening, even if that meant letting his children take control again.

Ghosts are real, and the Villains of the Raimi Spider-Man universe find themselves attached to Peter Parker because he witnessed them die. Norman Osborn being the first to die, now has to navigate being a ghost AND having to help other ghost deal with, well, being dead. He also has to stop Peter from getting into sticky- pun very intended- situations, and eventually gains help in the form of a very sad and tired dead Otto Octavius.
