“You are like a princess, you know.” Carlos sighs, and he tucks a blanket over Charles, covers him up to the shoulders. “I am not your prince. Next time, I will wake you up.”
Leo is barking. He's hungry, probably, vying for Carlos' attention, but his eyes are fixed on Charles; they don't shift until he watches those long lashes flutter shut, and Charles pulls the deep red of the blanket up towards his chin.
“I owe you,” comes his quiet reply. “Thank you, Carlos.”
Or, Charles is developing a terrible habit of falling asleep around his teammate, and Carlos isn't sure what to make of it all. He is far too competitive not to overthink it.

Max’s ears rang as he blinked, trying to regain his bearings. His car had come to a violent stop, the front end buried in the barrier, the nose crumpled beyond recognition. His body ached, but the adrenaline coursing through his veins dulled the pain.
And then he saw the Ferrari.
"Charles!" Max shouted, his voice hoarse and cracking. There was no response. The cockpit was still eerily quiet, no movement, no sign of the driver attempting to climb out.

There were a few seconds of absolute silence.
For some reason, Pierre looked much less surprised than Charles expected.
"Did you enjoy it?"
That would be an undestatement.
They were both drunk, so the memories were hazy, but they were there, and Charles wanted more.
But he couldn't.
It was a mistake.
Charles was a mistake.
It didn't matter. He had a championship to fight for, two more races with Carlos before he left Ferrari and a much-needed winter break to enjoy. He didn't have the time to worry about his stupid sexuality.
Except that Max had promised they would meet again, once the season ended.
In Vegas.
Charles had to survive until then.
If that night meant anything, if Charles wasn't just a pretty face to celebrate a championship with, it wasn't up to him.

“Asshole,” he muttered to the retreating back, making the word just loud enough for the man to hear.
Or: Charles's first day at one of the most prestigious law firms in the country starts out with meeting an asshole at a café. An asshole that would soon play a bigger part in his life than he could ever have imagined.
