Summary
In order to appease the conniving human king, the great dog general Toga agrees to an arrangement in which he receives the human princess as a ward in exchange for their alliance. Unbeknownst to the humans, the Inu no Taisho and his royally cunning wife intend to hold their guest, the honorable Lady Rin, as hostage until her father cooperates.
Their perfect plan gets ruined by one small detail that nobody could have predicted: Their son, young and ambitious Sesshomaru, quickly becomes attached to the timid girl.

She smiled at him, and not for the first time, he had the urge to accomodate her hair behind her ear. This time, he noticed and marveled with the fact, he was allowed to.
"Let's go, my lord." Her voice was soft and coated with affection, the kind of love he was never given before.
He started his trip long ago, only what he didn't have on his mind. He is going home now, still without what he craved, but his gain just as valuable.

Due to the busy Christmas season, a sweet shop decides to innovate and launches the Lucky Doll, which consists of a traditional gingerbread cookie holding a piece of paper.
Rin is an employee of this store and receives one of these dolls from her boss, which contained the following message: “someone important and special from your past will return to stay”.
Because she doesn't believe in messages coming from fortune cookies, after all she had read hundreds throughout her life and none of them came true, Rin doesn't care and even throws the paper away. However, there is something magical and special about Christmas time and she discovers this the next day, first thing in the morning, when the first customer walks through the store's door.
