Boothill, a legendary Galaxy Ranger with a body of steel and a bounty higher than the stars, has dedicated his life to bringing down the IPC; the shadowy regime responsible for annihilating his home planet, Aeragan-Epharshel. Fueled by grief and revenge, Boothill roams the galaxy wreaking havoc on IPC strongholds, leaving chaos in his wake. But on a routine stop for a distraction at a dive bar on Penacony, his mission takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Soren, an IPC worker who doesn't seem to fit the corporate mold, nor does she seem to recognise him.
Soren is no stranger to complicated lives. Independent, calm, and guarded, she's managed to stay under the radar of the IPC's darker dealings. But when a chance encounter with a mysterious, metal-cowboy turns into a slow-burning connection, Soren finds herself drawn into a galaxy-wide game of cat and mouse.

“Shoot, Miss Robin.”
“Do you perchance... can't you swear?” she asked curiously, as for some reason every anecdote Boothill told would occasionally leak out swear words but at other times simply sounded other adjectives such as ‘Fudge’ or ‘Son of a nice lady.’
“Ah, that” Boothill sighed, a little resigned, usually people noticed that when he spoke but not just anyone asked him directly “this synesthesia thing... you know, the thing that translates language, it's broken, someone played with it and sometimes it translates what I want to say well and sometimes it makes me say ridiculous stuff.”

“Is it…” Argenti trails off and glances away, his face heating up with a rather obvious blush as he catches what he was about to ask. He had to debate if he had had too much to drink, or if he needed more.
“Metal?” Boothill finishes with a small laugh.
“Well, I- don’t-” Argenti stutters, his shoulders tensing as he looks down at his drink, as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. “Must you be so forward?”
“You were the one askin’ to be blunt.” Boothill points out before inching a little closer. “Don’t be so shy.”
“Well… is it?” Argenti turns his head only slightly in Boothill’s direction.
“Sort of. Metal at the base, silicone for the rest.”
That actually catches Argenti’s attention. He knew Boothill’s body was built rather intricately, but he had yet to understand all the details. So, if Boothill was going to offer him the chance to ask whatever questions he wanted…

Dan Heng shakes his head, “Sorry… I was just deep in thoughts,” Dan Heng returned to his book “Did you say something while I was spaced out?” he took a sip of his tea.
“Well, I was just saying that can you tell your boyfriend stop sneaking in by the window? Pom-Pom has been complaining about that to me.”
Dan Heng spits out his tea almost comically at his book, taken aback hearing what Caelus just said.
“Excuse me- Wha- What? Boyfriend? Who are you talking about?” Dan Heng felt like he was left outside basking in the sun by how hot he feels, he must’ve looked ridiculous judging by how puzzled Caelus looked from his reaction.
“Boothill? Who else,” Caelus confidently says, “Or am I misunderstanding something?”

Boothill handed Argenti the assortment of food dye tubes, leaning back to observe as the redhead began decorating a snowman-shaped cookie. The outcome was, astonishingly, even less recognizable than the earlier attempt. Boothill tried to suppress a laugh, but Argenti’s unrestrained amusement came first, bursting into laughter that echoed throughout the kitchen.
Their laughter inevitably drew Clementine’s attention. She entered the room to investigate the commotion, only to be greeted by the sight of her father with streaks of green food dye smeared across his face from attempting to stifle his laughter, and Argenti with his hands smeared in red and white dye. The latter looked particularly striking, albeit chaotic.
"Don’t tell me you don't know how to decorate cookies."
"We’re just havin' fun, experimentin'." Boothill replied, his voice gentle, though the green dye on his face undermined any attempt at seriousness.
