**To New Beginnings**
Friendship is an unbreakable bond that lasts forever. At least, that’s what Thranduil thought—until his best friend disappeared from the palace in the middle of the night without any explanation. Back then, he was the prince of Mirkwood. Now, he is the king.
When Naira knocks on the palace gates once more, everything has changed. She doesn’t seem to recognize Thranduil, recoils from him, hides, and, in general, no longer appears to be the elf he once knew so well. The stories she has heard about him over the years have only instilled fear in her heart, leaving her terrified whenever she stands before the king. Thranduil, on the other hand, has spent all these years longing for nothing more than to have her back.
Now that she is finally in front of him again, he swears to himself that he will never let her go. No matter the cost! He is determined to restore their friendship and find out if she has missed him as much as he has missed her. That his feelings for Naira go far beyond mere friendship is something he chooses to ignore—only making everything even worse.

Summary
Bilbo has lost his memory after getting knocked out in Ravenhill, and is found by Thranduil. He’s taken to Mirkwood, unconscious still, to be treated. Upon waking, he discovers he has no memories of the previous year.
Unaware of this development, Thorin and his heirs lie recovering from their wounds and confined to bed rest. Free of the gold madness, the King orders them to search for Bilbo, as the brave burglar is still counted among the many who have disappeared during the fight. Despite this, they find no trace of Bilbo before a terrible snowstorm forces them to abandon their task and accept what they believe to be the hobbit's fate.
The King Under the Mountain mourns and, in the meantime, Bilbo sleeps.

She winced at the harsh words but stood her ground against him and glared back.
"Then why did you fucking save me?!" Her eyes narrowed as she spat back, "Why not just leave me to your Valar-forsaken forest and be done with me?!"

Thranduil is annoyed.
Which, all things considered, isn't out of the norm for him. But the reason for this particularly frustrating annoyance is a female in his dungeon who refuses to answer his questions or even speak to him at all. Die Freundschaft ist ein unzerbrechliches Band, das auf ewig währt. Zumindest dachte Thranduil das, bis seine beste Freundin mitten in der Nacht ohne Grund aus dem Schloss verschwand. Damals war er der Prinz des Düsterwaldes, mittlerweile ist er der König.
Als Naira wieder an die Tore des Schlosses klopft, hat sich alles verändert. Sie scheint Thranduil nicht wiederzuerkennen, zuckt vor ihm zurück, versteckt sich und scheint allgemein nicht mehr die Elbin zu sein, die Thranduil einmal so gut kannte. All die Geschichten, die sie während der vergangenen Jahre über ihn gehört hat, haben dafür gesorgt, dass sie jetzt nur noch panische Angst empfindet, wenn sie dem König gegenübersteht. Thranduil hingegen hat sich all die Jahre nichts sehnlicher gewünscht, als sie wieder bei sich zu haben.
Als sie ihm endlich wieder gegenüber steht, schwört er sich, sie nicht mehr gehenzulassen. Egal was es kostet! Er will die Freundschaft mit Naira wieder erneuern und herausfinden, ob sie sich genauso nach ihm gesehnt hat, wie er sich nach ihr. Dass seine Gefühle für die Elbin weit über Freundschaft hinausgehen, ignoriert er und verschlimmert damit alles nur noch mehr.
