Summary
"You are no dragon rider. You chain dragons to caves where they are stunted and enslaved." Daemon draws his sword when the figure steps closer to the cage he knows holds one of the Green's dragons. A growl behind the man with a flaming sword is heard throughout the whole dragon pit. There is movement in the shadows around Daemon making him grip his sword tighter and his heart beat faster while he searches the shadows frantically.
"Who are you?"

Summary
Elinor Royce never asked to become a dragonrider. Raised in the Vale, she lived her life as the overlooked daughter of Daemon Targaryen, far removed from her Valyrian heritage. But when Lady Arryn decrees that she must train at Dragonstone Academy and bond with a dragon to protect her homeland, Ellie has no choice.
The academy is deadly, and only the strongest survive the training. Without any preparation or support, Ellie must compete against more experienced rivals, navigate political conspiracies, and endure the dreaded Trial by Fire, where each candidate faces a dragon to form a bond that could define — or destroy — them.
Worse yet, Aemond Targaryen — a lethal veteran and prodigy of the academy, already bonded to the fearsome Vhagar — seems determined to make her his newest adversary. As hostility between them grows, Ellie must decide whether Aemond is her greatest threat... or something far more complicated.
On the battlefield and beyond, danger lurks everywhere. And Ellie is about to discover that surviving the academy is only the beginning.
Will she rise to claim her destiny, or will the flames consume her first?

Summary
Rosennis Stark was not like her younger sister Lyanna. Promised to Roose Bolton, she wasn't bold, nor beautiful, nor wild; more stiff, stony and icy cold. Though she lacked her sister's rugged charm, she was a Stark nonetheless, and Starks survive hard times, make it through the winter. The winter spent as Aerys Targaryen's hostage and plaything in King's Landing are the hardest times of Ross' life (so far). She returns north after the rebellion with scars on her skin, a bastard son with lion's eyes on her knee, and memories of fire and blood that refuse to leave her. And after all that, Roose Bolton never broke their betrothal.
Giana Lannister was beautiful. Not just of face, but also of character; her brother joked she couldn't possibly be a Lannister with her cheery smile, innocent naivety and lack of ambition. Yet somehow she was her father's favourite, even after an ill-advised fling with Robert Baratheon, resulting in a black haired bastard of her own. Dangerous, in a time when Baratheon banners are rising with Stark, Arryn and Tully against the might of the Targaryens.

Summary
"I dance in dangerous fables, walk a woods with trees white as bone. It's always winter and I'm always pressing my face against something warm with blood." - Yasmin Belkhyr, 'Blizzard'.
“Men die,” Barbrey tells her, bone-white with anger, eyes flashing. “Men die, Donella. Should Stark’s boy not sire a son on you, and if the Bastard has the Dreadfort-,”
“You speak as if Robb Stark were in fragile health,” Nell rolls her eyes. “You’re being paranoid.”
“Willam was in excellent health until he rode off to his death at Ned Stark’s side,” Barbrey hisses. “Do you think he did not promise me we would have children and a long life together before he left? Do you think he did not promise to come back to me? You cannot know what the future might bring. My lord husband survived a war only to die in Dorne. Men and their promises are not your safety nor your refuge. Land is. Power is. Never forget that.”
(In which Nell Bolton contends with both her mother's bloodstained legacy and her father's bloodthirsty bastard, and along the way claims a beast for a bridegroom.)
