Summary
Xiao never expected to find himself in this situation. He had always told Aether to call his name whenever he was in trouble, and he meant it. But this—this was something else entirely.
It was past midnight when he heard it. Aether’s voice, soft yet insistent, calling out for him. Xiao thought the traveler was in danger, so he rushed over without hesitation, only to find him… sound asleep.
At first, he sighed, relieved but confused. Did he really just summon me in his sleep? Xiao considered leaving, chalking it up to some strange dream. But then—Aether whimpered his name.
Xiao froze. His usually stoic expression shattered as a deep, burning heat spread across his face. His ears turned red, his heart hammered against his chest, and for the first time in his life, he felt completely out of his depth.
Should he wake Aether? Should he just leave and pretend this never happened?
One thing was certain—when Aether woke up in the morning, there would be some very awkward questions waiting for him.
