Summary
Ten years into their relationship, Nick and Charlie are living their best life. Nick loves teaching primary school and coaching youth rugby, as well as playing in a rec league with Otis. Charlie has just earned a promotion to editor at the mid-sized publishing company he has worked for since graduating uni, plus he started playing in a band with Sahar called Queer Street about two years ago. They enjoy the chance to each pursue their own passions, although their friends and family still tease them for being hopelessly sappy and codependent.
Then, on one random night, Charlie and Nick each end up in separate uncomfortable conversations with new acquaintances who can’t seem to wrap their minds around how good their relationship really is. Cue unwelcome assumptions, biphobia, and casual dismissal of the viability of long-term monogamy. It’s irritating, but both of our boys know just how lucky they are to have met their soulmate in grammar school, whether or not other people understand. -

Needing a change of scenery after the worst year of his life so far, Charlie rents a cottage on the coast for the summer. It could have been a lonely three months but thankfully the landlady’s son, Nick, is (more than) happy to keep him company.
