The two Kings had long been at war with each other, but after an unusually bloody battle where both lost over half their respective armies, they agreed that the time had come to end the conflict. After a dreary, protracted period of negotiation, it was decided that the two Princes, both of whom were disappointments to their fathers, should be wed, thus ushering in a tentative peace between the two worlds.
