Derek already knows it’s too late. Stiles feels himself sinking through the ground, everything fading to black as he chokes on the liquid caught in his throat. He reaches out, grabbing for anything to keep him from sinking any further. Derek’s extended hand is the last thing he manages to grasp, the muffled cries of his name attempting to reach him, as if they would pull him back into consciousness.
Or, Stiles becomes a vampire, Derek blames himself for it, etc, etc.
