Summary
After attempting to save the lives of cadets caught in an accident, Fleet Captain Christopher Pike was exposed to high level of delta radiation that left him essentially trapped in his own body--unable to move and unable to speak. To spare his former captain this dire fate, Spock, with help from the Talosians, took matters into his own hands and returned Pike to Talos IV where Pike could live an illusionary life, unencumbered by his physical condition.
Una Chin-Riley strongly disagreed with Spock's actions, refusing to believe that Chris couldn't be cured. Meanwhile, on Talos, Chris learns that the Talosians' offer of help will only go so far.
