Summary
There's a month left before Viktor goes off to the famed Academy in the Capitol, escaping the drudging fate of most people who live in District Twelve. He hopes to change the world with the opportunity he'd earned. Hell, he's even got his acceptance letter taped to the ceiling and a newfound passion for life despite his creeping sickness. There's a rare sort of hope that fills him as he counts down the days before he's able to leave.
A Reaping and a month to go, he's nothing if not hopeful.
Luck isn't in his favor, however, and it's in a matter of a day that he finds himself doomed to die in the death games he's managed to avoid for years.
Thrust into the yearly death games, he finds himself completely and totally alone within the arena, somehow surviving the opening bloodbath and defying the odds. He's only just figuring out to survive when one of the tributes manages to walk right into one of his traps.
