Chapter Text

When the sun finally shone through her blinds, something Cassie quickly learned to despise, she realised that she had slept passed her usual wake up time. She was in her warm bed at her neighbour Bill’s house, whom she finally learned that his family name wasn’t Prewett, but in fact Weasley. An interesting name when she thought about it.

Finally, she could wake up without the shouting of her Aunt or her Uncle’s stomping around the house. Finally, she didn’t have to expect some horrible chores or orders she would have to follow from Dudley or his parents. Finally, she could get away from that family.

The thought alone put her right back to sleep.

When she had re-awoken, her alarm clock indicated that it was almost noon. I can’t remember the last time I got to sleep this long… Cassie smiled as she rolled out of bed and changed into her everyday clothes. She had decided to wear a dress that had been gifted to her by Dorothy the summer before. Sadly, she hadn’t been able to wear it during the year at the Dursley’s in fear of it before thrown out but now she could wear the soft green dress that seemed to match her eyes, a colour that she had once heard Charlie call Avada-green, whatever that meant.

Leaving the room, she still had to wrap her head around the thought that she no longer had to deal with the nonsense that was her mother’s relatives. She was free from their cruel and frightening ways.

She was almost immediately greeted by Bill and Charlie, who were both drinking cups of coffee, while the elder one had been making some sort of lunch for them. They didn’t seem angry or upset that she had slept so late and it felt refreshing to have had her full hours of sleep and some more. Taking a seat at the table, Bill placed a plate of sandwiches in front of them and took his own seat.

“Have a good night's sleep?” Charlie asked her as he picked up a ham sandwich and taking a nice bite. She nodded and took her own.

“I’m glad you’re awake. Mum sent another letter.” He groaned as Charlie let out a soft chuckle. And rolled his eyes.

“And what did she want?” He asked, covering his mouth so no one could see the eaten bits of food.

“She really wants to see me again.” Cassie giggled at Bill’s annoyance.

She had heard many things from the wonderful Mrs. Weasley. Apart from her constant letters and her need of being very involved in her children’s lives, she seemed to be thinking of her position as their mother seriously and put the most of her care into raising all of her children.

She was also glad that Bill had finally revealed that his family surname wasn't Prewett, but it was his mother’s and he was just borrowing it for the sake of simplicity.

Weasley.

It was an interesting name that she had never heard before and it was quite unique. It sounded like an old name.

“She wants me to come over for lunch today or tomorrow. She knows I’m supposed to be on my way home soon.”

“On your way home?” Cassie raised an eyebrow.

“We never told you?” Cassie shook her head. “Well, Bill here was supposed to be in Egypt for the last two years but he took up work here instead.” He lied to his own mother about his whereabouts? Cassie wasn’t sure how the woman would react if she knew about his… little … Lie.

“Might as well go today.” Bill deduced. “It’ll stop her letters for some time.” He picked up the now empty plate and placed it in the sink. “I was thinking that I could introduce you to my little sister. She’s around your age, Cassie.”

“Oh yea! Ginny is 10 this year!” Charlie exclaimed. “Ron should be eleven now.”

“In two month, he will be.” Bill corrected his brother. “And Gin is 9!”

“Well, whatever. Point made William.” Charlie shook off his brother’s words. “I’ll come too.”

“So, what do you say Cassie? Want to meet the rest of the Weasleys?” Cassie nodded frantically her head as the two picked up their backpacks that had been set down in the sitting room.

“Then get your coats.”

Standing in the forest near the park, Cassiopeia stood with Bill and Charlie near an odd formation of rocks she hadn't noticed before. The forest was dense enough that you could barely see what was on the outside of the trees, but close enough that she could still hear the voices at the park screaming and laughing.

“Are you ready? We’re going to apparate.” Charlie ruffled her hair playfully. “You’ll take Bill’s arm.”

“Yes. We wouldn’t want another incident, would we Charles.” Bill sent a pointed look at his brother, who only shrugged and shot back.

“That was ONE TIME!”

With a small giggle, Cassie took the elder brother’s arm and disappeared, the feeling of being sucked into a tube coming over her until they both reappeared in a field, a tall house in the distance.

A loud crack resonated beside her, Charlie materializing beside her with a stumble before falling flat on his face in the ground

“And that’s why she came with me.” Bill jokingly shoved Charlie back into the snow when he tried to stand back up. “Let’s go.” The three trudged through the snow and stepped onto the cleared path

Upon reaching the house, the door opened abruptly, surprising Cassie but not the two men. A short, somewhat plump woman stood in the doorway and hugged both of them strongly.

“And who might this young lady be?” She released them and placed her hands on her hips with a kind smile. Seeing the resemblance, the young girl easily guessed she was their mother. She seemed very nice and seemed to care very much about her sons.

“Mum, this is Cassiopeia Potter.” Charlie introduced the raven haired witch.

It took approximately five seconds for Mrs. Weasley to realise she was the Cassiopeia, the one that would come over as a young infant girl, the one that she loved to have over with Lily and James.

She then found herself in the tightest of hugs, enveloped in a warmth that she felt was familiar, but never at the Dursleys.

“Come in, come in.” She quickly rushed them inside. It was a quaint, very warm room with a large table and numerous objects doing chores by magic, a broom sweeping, a brush scrubbing the plates and a pan being dried by a cloth were things she noticed immediately.

“Ginny! Ron!” Mrs. Weasley shouted. “Your brothers are home!” little steps were quickly heard coming down the stairs as a small high pitched voice came out of nowhere.

“BILL!” Cassie watched the small redhead girl tackle her eldest brother to the ground in a bear-hug. She was amazed at the force that it had taken to take down her neighbour, and this little girl did it so quickly. Quietly getting back up, the girl called Ginny looked at Cassie in interest for a few seconds before smiling brightly and pulling her into another room with a grin.

Once the young girls disappeared, Molly looked at her sons, sternness radiating off her expression. “So how did Cassiopeia Lily Potter come to be with you?”

“You’re on your Bill.” Charlie whispered before turning away to leave, failing as their mother grabbed his wrist, keeping him there.

“You’re both going to explain.”
