Chapter Three, Repercussions
Previously on Familia Semper:
"I'm sorry you're going through so much lately, but I want you to know this," Aunt Joy lifted her niece's chin so she was looking in her eyes to know she was serious about this, "no matter what anyone is doing whether its school or work you will never, and I mean never be a burden on any of us. I will speak to Tiffany and Sam to get them to knock some sense into Alyssa. Her jealousy has gone on for long enough, Paul is with you and anyone with eyes could tell years ago that he was besotted with you.
If they're not careful she'll become bitter. Now how about we head home, and you can tell me more about what is bothering you about being a wolf, and we can have a baking frenzy until Jared and Paul get home?" she suggested, easing herself to her feet, holding out a hand for her niece. Neakita nodded letting her aunt pull her to her feet as she threw her rucksack onto her shoulder with her other hand, the shell now in her pocket.

By the time Jared and Paul crashed through the front door with a loud bang, panicked expressions on their faces, there were numerous treats from brownies, blueberry and double chocolate chip muffins and sticky buns, Neakita was feeling much better with everything including the roles she held as Alpha Luna. Aunt Joy had told her that her pack was much like normal wolves she loved so much. That just because she and Sam were the Alphas it didn't mean she couldn't receive support as well as give it and it doesn't mean she couldn't delegate if she were feeling overwrought one day. As a pack was supposed to support, trust and lean on each other when need be.
"Neah!"
"Rose!"
Jared and Paul shouted as they tore through the house until they came to the kitchen gathering her into their arms in a tight hug as they kissed her head and whispered soothing words and apologies for not being there for when she needed them.
"Caspi. Paulie." Neakita said firmly, stopping their apologies, especially as she used Jared's shortened middle name.
"I'm okay now and you don't need to apologise, if I had stayed any longer to find you I would have wolfed out and I didn't want to interrupt your favourite classes." She proceeded to tell them all she had told Aunt Joy, causing the two boys to clench their fists in anger over how Sam's sister treated Neakita until they took a calming breath at the firm look from Aunt Joy.
"I'm going to speak to Sam about giving the three of you the night off today so you can all relax, but I still want you to complete any homework you have, alright?" Aunt Joy asked in a no-nonsense tone, the three teenagers nodded, getting a happy smile and a kiss to the forehead each from their Aunt.
"Good. There's lasagna in the oven, if you need me I'm a phone call away, I need to make dinner for Quil, but I mean it, call me if you need me or just want to talk alright. I love you all."
"I love you too Aunt Joy." The three teenagers returned as they saw their aunt out."
"How about we get in pyjamas, watch a comedy and have a relaxing afternoon." Jared suggested, hugging his twin tightly.
"You just want to try the brownies and muffins." Neakita laughed, a teasing smile on her lips as she looked up at her twin then to boyfriend.
"Maybe." Paul offered with a cheeky smile causing them all to laugh as he brought his girlfriend into his arms, kissing her temple.
"I want you to promise me, Nea. Promise us that if and when you feel like that again no matter what Jare and I are doing you will come to us and let us help you. We love you and only want what's best for you and to look after you. Alright?" Paul asked seriously, all previous playfulness had disappeared.
"I will, I promise." Neakita promised, kissing Paul's lips softly and hugging Jared before she headed to her room to change for a night of relaxation as they settled onto the sofa watching comedies as laughter filled the quiet house.

Chapter Three, Repercussions
"What's going on?" Alyssa Call asked as she walked through the front door of her house with her little brother Embry, spotting an angry look on her mother's face, but she wasn't alone. Her older brother Sam Uley, Joy Ateara and 'Old' Quil Ateara were also sitting with her mother in the living room with angry, unimpressed looks on their faces.
"Embry, go to your room please sweetie and get started on your homework. Alyssa, sit. Now!" Tiffany said sharply, pointing to the chair in front of her. Embry looked confused for a moment, looking from his mother to his sister beside him, to their half-brother, to his best friends Mum and grandfather before he headed upstairs to his room. He had a feeling what this was about and didn't want to get caught in the middle of it. He tried to tell Alyssa to stop but she ignored him and now she would be facing the consequences. She knew their mother hated bullies but yet she was more than happy to become one herself.
"What!?" Alyssa snapped, throwing herself into the chair and crossing her arms across her chest. A petulant scowl on her face.
"Do not take that tone with me, young lady!" Tiffany reprimanded, glaring at her daughter. She hated to say it, but it would seem out of the three of them, Alyssa was the most like Joshua Uley. "You know what this is about. I have warned you constantly, grounded you, but nothing I say seems to get through to you. You know I do not like bullies, in fact I hate them, and yet you are more than happy to become one yourself. Why?" Tiffany demanded, unknowingly repeating her son's thoughts.
"Oh. So it's about her." Alyssa scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Of course it is." She muttered, but unfortunately for her everyone heard her comment.
"Enough Alyssa!" Sam demanded this time, glaring at his little sister. He hated her attitude; it was reminding him too much of their father before he walked out on all of them. "I do not understand you. Are you really that shallow and self-centred that you would bully Neakita all because Paul chose her and not you? Are you for real? Paul has loved her since they were kids and has never looked at anyone else. There are plenty of people in La Push, even Forks and Port Angeles that may be the one for you. But there won't be if you continue on like this as you'll drive them and everyone away!"
"Is that really what you want?" Tiffany added on.
"Whatever!" Alyssa scoffed, rolling her eyes. "I don't have to listen to this. Paul will be with me, and you will see that I'm better for him than that....girl! And so will he!" She shouted, jumping up from the armchair.
"Sit down! NOW!" Tiffany ordered, finally shouting at her daughter which made her pause as her mother never shouted at her or Embry. "You carry on the way you are, and you will leave me no choice but to send you to live with your grandparents on the Makah reservation. I don't want to send my daughter away, but I will if I have to."
"Oh thanks." Aylssa rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. Not even looking at her mother now as her anger built within her, clenching her fists.
"You need to listen to your mother." Joy stated firmly, an angry blush to her cheeks.
"Your behaviour is unhealthy and is bordering on stalking." 'Old' Quil stated angrily. "The other Elders and I have spoken, and we have decided that for your behaviour you will be doing community service around the reservation. A month at every business here, including the café, hospital and Inn. Perhaps learning to deal with other people will get you to understand that your behaviour is unacceptable and encourage some understanding in you. But know this the next time you bully Neakita Cameron or follow Paul Lahote around you will be driven to the Makah reservation by Sam and myself." Quil said firmly, no remorse in his tone.
"Billy Black has already briefed the Chief of the Makah reservation of the situation you have landed yourself in. The ball is now in your court, and I only pray to the Ancestors that you make an informed decision and not have to leave the La Push like your father. Even if he did leave of his own accord." He added.
"Don't talk about my father!" Alyssa growled, actually growled causing them all to look up in alarm. "As for Neakita Cameron, she is nothing but a spoiled and entitled brat who gets away with walking out of class!"
"Alyssa! Calm down!" Sam ordered using his Alpha voice mixed with his big brother's voice; hoping it would work. The last thing they needed was another new wolf when there were already three new wolves. Plus he may love his sister but this behaviour from her is unhealthy and would only get worse if she were still exhibiting it IF she phased.
"BUT SHE IS!!" Alyssa shouted.
"No, the only one being spoiled and entitled is you." Tiffany argued. "What happened to my kind and sweet daughter? This rivalry you have with Neakita is out of control. You know she has ADHD and Asperger's, so she has to leave the classroom when it gets too much. So I suggest you educate yourself on them, perhaps then you will show some empathy and understanding. As what you did today has disgusted me, do you know that? You bullied that poor girl to the extent she was on the verge of a meltdown and had to leave the school, not just the classroom. No one knew where she was until Joy found her on the beach."
"But-"
"NO. Enough!" Tiffany interrupted whatever excuse was about to come out of her daughter's mouth. "I've heard enough. Give me your phone, you're grounded. Go to your room and look up both ADHD and Asperger's, and I will be quizzing you so make sure you do it!" Alyssa let out a frustrated scream before she stomped up the stairs. It was silent in the living room until they heard her door slam with such a force that picture frames on the walls rattled, but thankfully didn't fall off the walls.
"What was that?" Tiffany demanded, looking from Sam to Joy and Quil. "Does she have the gene? Is she going to phase like Neakita?" She really did not want that for her eldest child. Not only would it mean she was in close quarters with Neakita and Paul, but she did not want to constantly fear for her daughter's life.
She already feared for Sam's life as she had come to see him as another son. After Joshua had abandoned them all, and after his mother had left when it became known that both of her kids belonged to Joshua, she had tried to be there for him in any way she could. And he had made sure he was there for his younger siblings as well, all without being asked. He always offered to watch over them if she had to work late at the hospital. And when he phased and she had been informed what was going on as she had joined the council, the fear she had felt was almost crippling. She hadn't wanted him to go up against vampires, least of all her daughter.
"I'm not sure." Old Quil responded thoughtfully. "Before Neakita we had thought it impossible for women to shift as one hasn't shifted for centuries, but as Sam is a shifter and they are half-siblings it is not impossible for both Alyssa and Embry to have the gene. They are Joshua's children as well."
"We just have to hope that is not the case." Sam added. "At this moment in time with the way she's acting it will only cause problems for Neakita and Paul. Not to mention that both Jared and Paul won't stand for her behaviour to Neakita for much longer.
They won't do anything at this moment in time apart from argue with her, but if she does phase then there's no stopping the fights that will become reality between them. Not to mention if Neakita is pushed much more she will snap. I don't see Alyssa listening to her Neakita at the moment even if she is the Alpha Luna."
"At the moment it is only assumptions and possibilities." Joy put in, leaning forwards to squeeze Tiffany's hand, trying to offer her friend some comfort and reassurance despite that due to Alyssa's behaviour to her niece their friendship has been rather strained. "I will speak to Billy and make sure that everyone she does community service with keeps a close eye on her."
"Thank you Joy." Tiffany muttered, squeezing her friend's hand. She really didn't know where she went wrong with her daughter and only hoped the Ancestors listened to their prayers and Alyssa didn't become a Spirit Warrior. Jared and Neakita Cameron and Paul Lahote didn't need that added weight to their already heavily weighted shoulders. She did wonder if Kai and Serenity would come home to support their children through this hard time in their young lives – she knew Billy would have told them by now – but somehow she severely doubted it.
