Chapter Text

How strange.

Gio was used to a range of emotions, general set of sensations out of Tony— Disquiet, disgruntlement, anger, hunger, terror. Occasional spates of amusement, superiority, schadenfreude, pride, and the dreaded satiation that only ever meant someone was dead, a tally on the ever-growing list.

This one was unusual.

It shivered like a freshly-hatched baby bird, adrift in the sea of familiar strife. Warm, soft, and so small, so vulnerable, desperately in need of care if it were to have any hope of surviving more than a few meager nights. But it was there, that oddity, that speck of…

It almost felt like…

Not a blood-bond, though as his thoughts turned to that she-beast that had tried to dance his arms off at the Velvet Lounge, he suspected one had happened. But it wasn't that ichorous, insidious sticky-saccharine forced-affection, not entirely. This baby-bird feeling might be nested securely in a raft of that— Oh, it was there, if he really sifted through the feedback he was getting out of this strange bond— But the bird was not its raft, and could, perhaps, be separated from it, once it was strong enough to fly.

Like real, human love.

He turned his tired eyes to the dawn, felt the miasma of not-his-own senses drift away. That Gangrel girl must be doing something right, if she could stir things he had thought quite dead within his brother for all but a select few. His eyes drifted to the little box full of wooden cooking utensils, and the one singular, rounded spike hiding in amongst them. He'd used it before, he'd use it again, if need be, to rip him out of a bad blood-bond.

With any luck, that Daisy girl he had taken a liking to was better than his last 'girlfriend'.
