“Oh Portia, before we get carried away further Colin here was who prompted our visit this afternoon,” Violet, Colin’s mother, politely and effectively changed the topic before Mrs. Featherington could bring up something else she overheard at the supermarket that morning.

Colin took a moment clearing his throat while wiping his hands and Portia lifted an eyebrow while Colin took a breath, “I am here to ask for and secure your permission to court your daughter.”
