Over the past twenty years, organizations have also begun to implement team-centered environments. With the growth of team culture, there is an increasing need for leaders who can build effective teams. Effective teams can give organizations a great competitive edge in their industry. A thorough understanding of the purpose of strategic management can help organizations gain a competitive edge within their industry, but not without the analysis of various strategic management analysis tools that have been designed to aid in the strategic management process and promote organizational growth. A review of the literature supporting strategic management and tools such as Porter's five-forces, SWOT, BCG growth matrix, valuechain analysis, competitive advantage and balanced scorecard (BSC) provide a comprehensive look at techniques engineering by researchers to help organizational managers move their companies ahead of the competition and sustain a competitive advantage in the world marketplace. As the organization's most valuable resource, employees and their business organization have grown as well. Today, organizations are tasked with identifying the best way to communicate organizational expectations to employees. Workplace policies have assisted in communicating organizational expectations with ease. Since there are various legal requirements that companies must uphold, it is important to distinguish policies that add value, increase efficiency, and gain competitive advantage for the organization. Four specific workplace policies: introductory training, equal employment opportunity, performance appraisal, and employee separation stand out as policies that are worth investment. These policies, when shared with prospective employees communicate business expectations, share employee rights and responsibilities, and address organizational procedures that aid in creating an efficient and productive workplace.
