this still might not seem like much by animation standards as a whole but I just saw a 2025 simpsons episode and the characters are suddenly so much more animated than usual?? The show was called out a lot in recent years for its animation getting even stiffer and more lifeless over time, and even one of the showrunners at some point argued that the characters simply aren't meant to squish or deform or bounce around too cartoonishly. I guess its current animators threw out that memo :)

the new equality act ruling is devastating to nonbinary rights because the very act meant to protect us now tells us that we don't exist, further solidifying the systemic erasure of nonbinary people.
i feel like now it's just a matter of time until they remove "gender reassignment" as a protected category under the equality act altogether.
it's also important to remember that there are two sides of this coin. every time a transgender woman is denied her gender because someone defines womanhood by biological characteristics, many nonbinary people as well as transgender men are denied their gender too. one does not exist without the other, and other groups aren't collateral damage.
