What I’m Doing With The TS2 Universities: The Best-Laid Plans
So because my darling @uberhood teens are starting to go off to school, I’m starting to remodel the universities! Right now I’m thinking about how to make them distinct from each other– especially since I overdid it and accidentally added every fucking campus in the game and a few modded ones.
So, I’m making this post so I remember wtf I was planning to do with all of these unis. What architectural styles was I planning to use? What mascots was I planning to give them?
Sim State University
Elevator Pitch: Rub elbows with SimNation’s best and brightest– or get invited to their epic ragers– at SSU.
Inspiration: The College of William and Mary. An old, red brick campus that’s split into the Old Campus and New Campus? That’s Sim State U if we ever saw it.
Majors: International Relations (modded), Political Science, History, Economics
Mascot: The Fightin’ Llamas.
Rival School: Land Grant University.La Fiesta Tech:
Elevator Pitch: The truth is out here! Unlock the secrets of the universe at La Fiesta Tech.
Inspiration: New Mexico State’s more modern architecture
Majors: The “Four Ps”– Paranormal (modded), Physics, Psychology, Philosophy
Mascot: The Antisocial Bunnies

if it’s any consolation they’re only evil on SSU campus, because Fuck Them Llamas. >:(
I’m gonna try and use the Gussy Up function to get the mascots to be the correct creature on the correct campus (so, on LGU campus, the 'good’ mascot is in the cow suit and the 'evil’ one is in the llama suit).

Hey, neighbourhood players specifically, what would you guys want out of a sims clone?
It feels like Paralives and the other sims clones on the market are really focusing on either single-family, RPG or legacy playthroughs (the Ajay Loner playstyle…) or on Build Mode, and not really thinking about the way that neighbourhood players like to play the game.
My thoughts:

my TS2 game got a lot more fun once i accepted that, like A Series of Unfortunate Events, it’s inevitably set in the Year of the Rat
what year is it? it’s the Year of the Rat
what’s the technology level? why do some sims have beige box PCs and some have sleek hypermodern touchscreens? it’s the Year of the Rat; the tech level is based on ~vibes~, don’t worry about it
what’s the current fashion trends? why are some sims in floral bell bottoms and some sims in Victorian bustle gowns and some sims in Achingly Gen Z Altwear? it’s the Year of the Rat, fashion trends are based on ~vibes~, don’t worry about it
with like 20 years of CC to pick through at this point, it’s nice to be able to pick up stuff that I like and think is fun, and not worry too hard about making the game look ‘up to date’ or 'set in 2003’ or what have you
Keto’s build sets with English translated descriptions
I really love Keto’s Japanese style build sets, but while I was redownloading them I realised they have the issue where the Japanese catalogue descriptions appear blank in my English game. So I’ve gone through and translated the catalogue description files; bear in mind, these are the only edits I’ve made to the packages, I only translated the descriptions and the folder names (and compressed everything aha). I’d love to make the colums actual colums, move the supports to acitecture category, and repo like, everything, but I’ll have to do that at some other point. Also, these aren’t professional or even good translations- they’re pretty much just informed google translations with my limited Japanese language and knowlege of Japanese architecture skills aha (´∀`;)
These are only the sets that needed translations, so if you want any of Keto’s recolour sets and such, the download links on the original site still work so grab em from there! For example, recolours of the BV shoji door, wallpaper sets 1 and 2, Japanese style lots, and Keto’s Touhou sim costumes if that floats yer boat!
A lot of these items are Edo and historical style as well as traditional, so they may work well for medieval style games, too.
Finally, I have recoloured a few of these items here!
Previews are all Keto’s originals! I did test everything and didn’t notice an issue.

Too many carpool drivers? Turn them into townies!
I’ve had an overpopulation issue with carpool drivers from when I started with Life Stories as my base game. (I didn’t have anti redundancy) 42 of them to be exact. And i’ve never known what was safe to do with them. Till April Blacks new video about npcs! Turns out carpool drivers have complete character data and if you change their interaction table id and npc type they will become a normal sim. No idea if a tutorial exists so I thought i’d share how to do so.
This tutorial will also work on mascots graduated long ago who refuse to take their smelly cow costume off and other npcs that can be turned playable with annoying behaviors. Just skip the part where you move them into the townie bin
Firstly, !!!! ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD IF YOU ARE EDITING IT IN SIMPE !!!!!
What you need: Simpe and a basic knowledge of it (I use version 0.77.69 in the light installer)
Firstly, load up your neighborhood, open up sim browser and find your carpool driver you want to change.
1. Change their npc type to normal sim and press the fix guid button 2. Commit then save.
3. Go to the resource tree and click family infomation 4. Find your Townies family
5. Select your sims name from the dropdown box. 6. Press add sim. 7. Commit and save.
Go back to your sim description and go to the more tab and open their character file.
6. Go to object data in the resource tree 7. Click on the sims object daa file 8. Go to the raw data tab and change it to decimal. Scroll down till you see interaction table id. Change that number from -1 to 129, 9. commit and save.
Now your carpool driver is a townie and has escaped eternal life trapped in a car!
