We haven’t had bread for days… The war on Gaza continues, the blockade is suffocating us, and bakeries have completely shut down. The situation is beyond tragic—children, families, everyone is starving. We need every voice, every bit of support, every share to make the world hear our cry. Please don’t ignore our suffering.

Y’all would not fucking believe how hard it is to get a braille book into prison.

We’ve been negotiating with the prison mail room for the better part of two months. It’s always difficult to obtain braille, it’s always hard to send books to a prison, but even I, cynical Nate, didn’t think it would be this hard to provide reading material to a blind inmate. There are road blocks every step of the way.

We’re getting close! I expect to send out the package sometime this week!! But the fact it’s taken this long is genuinely battering what’s left of my faith in humanity

In light of, y'know, everything recently, most of us could use some good news. So if you're scrambling to find anything good in the world, you should know that we have gotten a Braille copy of Fahrenheit 451 into the prison mail room! And I think this will lay the foundation for an easier process next time we have to distribute Braille

On the off chance this information will be useful to someone: I got the book from braillebookstore.com

It arrived in good condition. The spiral binding was plastic, and the covers were soft, but glossy. There is no title printed on the front -- not even in Braille. However, the title of the book is written in non-Braille indentations on the first page. (I cannot check, but I assume there's a title written in Braille as well.) Fahrenheit 451 came in two separate volumes. I could not find any advance warning on the website about how many volumes you will receive.

The expedited shipping cost is almost as much as the book itself, so be very intentional about which delivery option you click.

Okay but this is exactly what I love.

The above image is a historical artifact. Colima dog. It dates back to circa 100 BCE-300 CE. (x)

And, around two thousand years later it was originally shaped with care, painted with love, and adored… someone draws it. Draws it using a new technological device that allows modern people to shape things with care, paint with love, and even move them -on a screen, glowing.

And the said person decides to share it with the world. The whole world adores it.

I love the connection between past and today. We were humans back then, and we are still the same.

Cute dog :)

New York State Parks official IG posted about an owl they rescued but decided to use only the most wretched photos of this creature, including what EYE think is the best bird photograph ever taken
