Aztec warrior character design

2020 Here's my contribution to September 2020 theme! A cruel jaguar warrior, former front-line soldier with many battles behind him. But now he has been decorated with the honor of leading soldiers to battle, hence the fancy helmet and equipment! The 'blood trail' bodypaint on his chest coming from the helmets mouth symbolizes the blood of his fallen enemies. Golden claws on the right hand are a backup-weapon in case he loses/breaks his macuahuitl.

Done for the Character design challenge september 2020, aztec warroir theme. Working on "the heartstone style"

Submission to the CDC(Character Design Challenge) of september 2020. I found it very interesting and teaching to spend more time than usual on a personal piece. I wanted him to give the illusion of being a "small window on a big world". "The new Tlatoani is sophisticated, he sees beauty only in precision. We all wonder if his warriors are human like us or if they've ever been. They fight without heart, like hollow puppets. Oddly, they attract couatl - and that could only suggest one thing…

I am happy to present one of my graduation projects for the Gamer Master program at New Edge. Icali is a top-down game set in a fantasy Aztec world. I was in charge of modeling the Jaguar Warrior, from high-poly to the final textured low-poly mesh. The concept was provided by New Edge's Concept Art class.
