Light transformation

Stephen Knapp has collaborated with architects throughout his career and has written and lectured on the collaborative process, art and architecture and architectural glass art. His large scale public lightpaintings have all been in response to a request for art that intersects with technology and innovation and a dialogue with the clients and architects.

Light refraction is the bending of light, or the change in direction of the rays as it moves past a boundary. For example, when light crosses through a window, it is refracted and can create a rainbow. A prism illustrates this theory. As light passes through the prism, it refracts and separates into an entire spectrum, or rainbow, of light. Student groups rotate through four stations to examine light energy behavior: refraction, magnification, prisms and polarization.
